How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
I was wondering how is everyone doing after their recent surgeries, and how would you compare it to you Hysterectomy-if you have had one already?
How long did it take you to get back on your feet? How are your hormones?
I am having surgery next Friday so I have lot's of questions?

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
Hi, I had both of my ovaries removed on the 14th, for the most part I feel good. I had a tougher time with this surgery than with the TAH, things such as fever and nausea , an infection but nothing major. I do get very tired and rest all that I can. All of us heal differently, some slower or faster than others. I hope that you have a uneventful surgery and recovery. I think the worst part was the waiting. Keep us posted. Best Wishes and Carol

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
I just had my left ovary removed last Friday via laparotomy, scar tissue/size of cysts precluded possibility of Lap (dang!). Anyway, cysts were benign, a dermoid and a brenner, glad to have them out. I'm sore, of course, but have good pain meds that I hope I can set aside soon (tried that Monday but got nauseous from the pain, throwing up hurts like a @#$%$#). Dr. want to remove the other ovary but I opted to keep it if it looked healthy, and it did. So have not had trouble in the hormone dept. and hope it stays that way. Good luck wsith your surgery! MV

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
I had both my ovaries removed on the 15th and I feel great. Its hard for me to stay down, because I feel so well, but i am really going to try to rest this next week. I have a desk job, and hope to be back to work in my 3rd week.... We will see. My biggest dilema is to know when to start the HRT. My Dr. said to start taking it when I get hot flashes, and I wake up with the sweats, but am not sure if its me or if i have to many blankets on.... I wish theyd just tell me a time to start and not leave it up to me. I dont want to start to early and feel horrible. Doc says after they remove ovaries, you still have 2 to 3 weeks of hormones left in your system....I am not quite at 2 weeks post op yet....
Good luck. I had the pain pump for one day, then didnt need anything after that day for pain. I have a full bikini line incision.... I may take tylenol once in awhile, but I havent needed the strong stuff. Good Luck

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
I feel really good and soooo happy that I don't have my "Aunt Flo" pestering me every month...she was really mean to me and drove up the wall! I had PMS and PMDD and although my energy level is a little low, I feel really calm and able to do things that I couldn't do before like socializing...doing things, going places, remembering things etc. But I do still have a little brain fog going on...like right now my car keys are missing! I guess life isn't perfect, but it's getting there. Now I have my 13 year old and her "cycles from heck" to deal with...major mood swings...I have her on a multi vitamin and b-6 and evening primrose oil...

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
Just an update,I will be 2 weeks post op on Monday, I had staples removed last Monday, got home and noticed a whole in my belly button where they tried to do the laproscopic surgery, had drainage, called the dr and went in on Tuesday, and I have a seroma. Dr packed it and I have to go in every couple of days to have it changed. Thanksgiving we went out of town to mil's, about 120 miles away, that trip has wiped me out, I am so tired, rested all day yesterday and still can't seem to get my energy back. I have not had any menopausal symtons yet, it is like waiting on water to boil. Dr hasn't given me anything, I am to call when I to start having symtons. I hope everyone continues to heal properly, Blessings and s, Carol

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
My BSO was a breeze compared to the TAH. Two one inch cuts (below naval and in pubic area). Two quarter inch cuts where ovaries were. Aside from some suture material coming thru the incisions that I was able to clip at home, recovery was uneventful.
Hope your recovery is smooth sailing!

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
I had my left ovary removed 2 wks. ago. The recovery is nothing like my hyst. in June, but I am still a little sore. The main thing is that my energy comes in spurts and I will feel great and then be up on my feet a little to long, and boy, do I pay! I try to be sure I take frequent breaks and don't do anything to stress me. I still have the swelly belly and it's definitely worse at night. I started hormones the day after surgery, Estradiol 1 mg, and I seem to be doing great on them. A few mild hot flashes and that's it. My mood seems more stable than before surgery, although I had a couple of crying spells recently, which I blame on surgery. I did the same thing with my hysterectomy. Between week 2 &3 I became very weepy. The hormones seem to be doing their job, but I do feel like I've gained about 5 pds, and not really increased what I've eaten. So, I'm praying once I'm recovered I can start walking again. I have a few mild hot flashes during the day. I will know more about increasing my dosage at my 6 wks. post visit. Good luck! For me it was an easier surgery than my hyster. but no surgery is really 'easy'. Any abdominal surgery is hard and especially when they take out your ovaries and you go into menapause. I think it just takes your body a while to adjust.

How are you dong after surgery to remove ovaries?
Thank you all for responding. I am incouraged "some" after reading your stories involving the ovaries.
I go in on Friday, which I thougth I was prepared for , since it has only been 3 months since my hysterectomy. But now I am getting very nervous again, and I almost want to pop my Xanax! I am trying to be strong. But as the days grow shorter I am getting very worried.
Thank you all for your answers. Hope everyone continues to recover well.
