Hormone Fluctuations/Blood Sugar

Good grief, it's me again. Just got a moment, while I wait for my blood sugar level to come up. Have noticed when my estrogen symptoms seem to plummet, I wake up dizzy, vomit, feel pretty confused and awful. Checking my blood sugar level show it to be quite low; today it was 60 (50 is the danger cut-off point).

I know others have mentioned blood sugar problems. What is your experience or knowledge about this?

Man, the Jungle is beating me up big time this week. You're probably all tired of hearing from me!

Hormone Fluctuations/Blood Sugar

I had low blood sugar problems when I started on any of the estrogens I've been on. After a while it settled with Premarin, not so with Estrafem (equivl to Estrace there) - it fluctuated wildly. Since using the gel I found it doesn't affect my BSL that much, probably because it bypasses the liver. You are right though when hormones are out of whack it sends things like that into chaos. Hope you feel better soon and try and eat regular small meals, it helps. Oh and stay off the sweets - they give you a lift but you plummet and crash and burn!

Thanks

So it's not just me, then, with the blood sugar thing. You are right, I think when I eat sweets it does make it worse in the long run. So dear menopause robs us of healthy feelings and even the pleasure of a bit of chocolate. Just who invented this stupid condition?

Hormone Fluctuations/Blood Sugar

I though I'd pass this along and maybe it'd be some help. I've been having trouble in the afternoon with what I believed was my blood sugar levels and the last couple of days my hips have been hurting bad.

So I went to www.yourmenopausetype.com and took the Quizz again. It was interesting that some of the questions relate to cold hands and feet, tolorating sugars and carbs, fatigue etc. and it came back a type 5. Low in Estriodol and testosterone. I've just switched to Tri-est and am trying to get balanced. So it may in fact be that my Tri-est needs to be increased. I just have to give it a little while longer though. I may need more Estriodol.

This happens to me in the afternoon between 4 to 6pm. My heart races, I get very tired, my hands and feet are so cold and I can't get them warm and the terrible headaches. It's funny after I eat some fruit things change. Who knows this Jungle is such a confusing mess.

Hmmm, you could be right libradoll. Linda and I are certainly plummetting in the estrogen department - in fact we are practically twins at the moment
BTW Linda,
I posted in reply to you about me upping the estrogen and getting some relief from my vaginal irritation or whatever it is. Talk about a placebo effect - when we want something to happen we can almost talk ourselves into it. Three days on an extra half a dose has so far let me sleep a couple of hours longer and I am getting my sense of humour back. So far no headaches, just feel a tiny bit nauseous but even that's better this morning. This is on par with how well I reacted to it initially, so I guess I did need to raise the dose. As far as the vaginal atrophy/irritation or whatever it is it's gonna take a lot longer than that I think yes it's still there, I just wanted it to go away!
If you start the vagifem or anything let me know how it goes. I guess I'll have to go and have a swab if it doesn't feel better soon - yuck! If someone had told me how many times I'd be letting doctors look at my private parts since this hyst I wouldn't have believed them

I know what you mean

I'm practically embarassed to even call my dr. anymore. Which is good until the beginning of May when our new health insurance kicks in - am insuranceless until then and just that thought makes me feel panicky. Bu then what doesn't!!!

I am glad, Lily, that the increased estrogen is helping with something. I sure may check out the vagi-fem, etc. when the insurance kicks in if stuff still feels funny down there. It is a lot better, but kind of in a teasing way, like it could resurface if it gets touched too much by toilet paper or anything else that might get near.

Libradoll, I went to the Collins site and came out a Type One. Was at work and think I may have not taken the test just right, in a hurry. Type One says everything is okay, if I read that right. Huh!!! Will go try again. I have been having the cold feet something fierce, too. You probably are having low blood sugar with the reaction you have between 4 and 6 pm, especially if a piece of fruit makes you feel better. Guess I'm lucky to have the blood sugar machine available to find out for sure. Was a little low again this morning, but not at the danger point like yesterday. Gee whiz. Hope you can get that dosage right.
