Hello and glad I found this site!

Hello, I am so glad a friend told me about this site! I am a mom of 3, soon to be grandmom, 41 and due to have a total hysterectomy with removal of endo on the small bowel on the 1st of May. I will be sooo glad to get this surgery over with, we did it once before in March, but had to abort the surgery as I had polyps and they feared cancer (I was cleared!). So back to waiting and taking meds that were meant for post op for my horrid PMS which has gotten worse since then! Hmm, vicodin for back pain????? I will honestly be so glad to have this over with, I am very scared as they have told me they have to wait till they are in there to decide what to do about my bowel, I am just praying like heck it all works out. They also found out I have 2 gallstones, but no clue as yet whether they will bounce them too.

Welcome Frances!

That's great news that you were cleared for cancer...what a relief!

Sounds like you are very ready to get this all behind you. Alot of us go in not knowing exactly what they will find during the surgery...when you think about it, there's a big degree of uncertainty with any surgery. Hopefully they will be able to remedy your situation easily and you can get ready to enjoy being a grandma!

Keep reading and posting and you will be even more ready for everything. Glad you found us!

Bowel stuff

I know the feeling. Two weeks before my laparoscopy last year, my surgeon called to postpone for a month. She had looked at the tape of my last lap and she decided she wanted her favorite general surgeon on standby in case they had to do a bowel resection. I about had a heart attack over it, especially since it meant another month of Lupron since we were also trying to shrink my fibroids for my myomectomy.

But I lucked out in the end. There was a big giant endometrial blob on there, but she was able to remove it herself without resection and without damaging the bowel at all. And when I went back in for my hyst this year, there was no recurrence yet on the site. I hope things turn out well for you, too.

Hang in there! The waiting is the worst part.

Hello and glad I found this site!

Hello and welcome Frances.

Pre-op is very emotional...all very normal. I spent lots of time worrying about the "what ifs"...and everything turned out ok.

Glad you found us...we'll be with you every step of the way

Pre-op

I am 49 years old, no children, fibroids which have gotten much larger recently, my GYN says my uterus is 26 week size. Having TAH/BSO on 4/16/01. This site has really solved the waiting hysteria for me. I have never even been in the hospital, so initially I was totally nuts, but there you girls were! You have answered all my questions, I know what to expect and I'm not at all nervous about this. When I wake up and feel SO YUCKY, I'll know it's normal and to just hit the PAC and put on my headphones and go back to sleep. I'll remember that if I get up and walk around, I'll be stronger sooner and my bowels will get back to normal sooner, I'll think of you while I'm clutching my pillow during my breating exercizes. You have really been a life saver for me. My friends and family are shocked by how calm I an heading in to the surgery. I just say "my hyster sisters are guiding me through this". Thanks for listening and I'll be back to let you know how things are going once I'm home. Love Chrissybee
