bladder control
Just wondering if anyone else out there has less bladder control than what they did before the surgery. I had my hyterectomy 2-22-05 and kept my ovaries. It seems like I can't hold it like I used to and sometimes when I sneeze a little comes out. Anyone else have this problem? Also, I seem to sweat a lot more than I used to and I think this might be hormone related. I don't have hot flashes, just perspire a lot. Any help on either issue would be appreciated.

bladder control
lbbk, has this been an issue the whole time since your HYST? Sometimes the bladder is irritated right after a hysterectomy just from being catheterized. But since it's been over 9 months for you, that doesn't sound like what it must be in your case, does it? My UroGYN told me it can also be a hormonal thing like you suspected. It sounds like you have stress incontinence, which is when you lose urine upon sneezing, jogging, laughing, or other things like that. For more information, you might want to check out the Bladder Matters forum here on HysterSisters. There are many of us there who have or have had ongoing bladder issues and can offer much support and suggestions on how to deal with different things that come up. Sorry you are having this, too. If you want to check out the forum, here is the link. http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=187
Sending a and hope that you can find the help you need to resolve this for yourself.

bladder control
i had my hysterectomy three months ago today and the only thing that I can complain about is the bladder issue. If I don't go right away, it actually hurts! And the other day, I was walking (trying to find a bathroom) and started leaking....gotta love those oh so embarrassing moments! I'm 32 and would much rather have this be my biggest concern, rather than what put me in the hospital in the first place.

Thanks for the info on the bladder matters link to this web site. I don't have any pain or anything like that so maybe it is a hormone related issue. I go for my yearly checkup in January, so this is one issue I will be discussing with my OBGYN and also the sweating when I am not even hot. I am 40 years old so maybe I do need some hormone replacement even though I kept my ovaries.
