(((Kathy))), I'm assuming you're talking about a hormone patch, right? Have you discussed hormone therapy with your doctor so that you know the pros and cons of taking it? Have you gone over your family history and accessed the possible risks?

There is no law that says you have to use it. You need to decide if the benefits it can provide outweigh the effects of not using it. One good way to do that is to research. There are lots of articles you can read in this link to the Hormone Jungle Articles. There's even more in the Resource Database in the category called Hormone Jungle - Hormone Resources.

At my age of 49 (pushing 50 really hard!) I can't imagine not using hormones. My quality of life is so much better when my hormones are balanced. Out of balance I had no libido, no sexual response, and a host of the typical menopause symptoms. I feel much healthier and vibrant with my balanced hormones. I'm using the Vivelle Dot for estrogen, compounded progesterone cream, testosterone cream and Vagifem for vaginal dryness.

If you aren't comfortable with the idea of hormone replacement and opt not to use it be sure to let your doctor know. You'll want to get special advice on how to protect your bone health, etc.

I'm sending s!!

thanx april dawn!!!Its the vivelle dot. i know i need it. i think i am just freakin out because i quit smoking the morning i went into surgery and with all this lying around, i am wondering if now is the right time to quit. Not to mention starting on these hormones. How many changes can my body go thru at once without completely going crazy on me?

When you were finished with surgery, did you not have the patch on already?

If not, what are your fears? I'm only 7 days post op, had the patch on me when I woke up and have already put another one on. I feel great. I will, however, research options when I'm over the surgery and have had a lot of rest.

Take care!

Chris
