Waiting and praying

I've never posted yet as I have been waiting for the surgery now for two years. I've had it put off time and time again as the doctors try everything else first. I deal with horrible IBS and an irratable bladder and have been told my uterus is severely tipped and enlarged to a 4-5 month pregnancy size so I basically crush my colon and bladder two weeks every month. (I am 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off). Today I went for an ultrasound for surgery prep. I was nervous as I was sure it was going to be put off for another year. I also just recieved a letter from my insurance company on Saturday that said they no longer will cover my 2-4 paps per year, my biopsy's, colposcopy's unless they are only done once a year.
Well, the ultrasound was very painful for some reason which freaked me out a bit as I had never had a painful one before. (the vaginal one was so bad I had tears in my eye's). I just kept thinking what in the world is wrong now! When I went upstairs for the look at the results he said lets hop up and get another biopsy. The tears did fall then as I just couldn't do another test! My last one was in April. He then gave me the option to refuse, something I have never done before and I refused the test. He said the blood work showed no reason to worry about cancer, my lining is so thin from all the previous biopsy's a good sample might not even be there and he would stand up for me. He said then that they would get ahold of my urologist and set up surgery.
Now comes the scary part--- he said the nurse will give me something to poop on thrusday and he'd see me friday. They have to coordinate with my urologist for bladder repair if needed. They are going to call today with the appointment. Has anyone else had things go that fast? I'm having the surgery abdominally, which is okay as I had both my kids that way. (I'm familiar with that feeling of your abdomen being opened up and recovery) and hopefully will keep the cervix and ovaries. ALso- has anyone had their appendix taken out at that time too? My regular doctor told me I should ask about it but Im afraid things are going so fast I'll forget what I need to do. I also get IBS in stressfull times so I am afraid of the laxative as the last time I had to take one I began bleeding rectally and had to be on bedrest for two days for anemia. Any advice? Need a big hug, Stacy

Waiting and praying

Hi Stacy, here's a big . My surgery went fast from the time I knew I could have one to the time of the abd. hysterectomy was about 3 weeks. My Surgeon wanted to try one more thing before doing the surgery but I refused, I've messed with my uterus long enough and tried things that worked temporarily. I wanted to take care of my problems once and for all and when I was younger and had better insurance. He told me after that I was a mess in there and that I did the right thing. I most likely would have needed a hysterectomy within 1-2 years. I still can't believe that it is all over with and that I no longer have my uterus. I am glad that I requested pictures as it seems more real. Good luck to you. Maybe a quick surgery would be good for you, less time to think about it and worry about it. The waiting time is the worst part so far. Take Care! Here's another ! Amber

Sounds like it is time. You are going to feel so much better. Everyone I talk to say it is the best thing they ever did and don't know why they waited so long.

Best of luck to you

Surgery date scheduled!

Well, my two doctors decided they couldn't both be there this friday so it's all set for the 30th. I do feel better having more time and I am not too worried about spending New Years in the hospital. Guess I'll have something to remember this New Years! Stacy

Hi stacy,

Im so sorry you have been having a hard time. I know how scary tests can be. I was scared for momths. I had several biopsys and thought i was going to lose my mind over worrying.
Please understand that bloodwork does not show pre-cancer. Thats what I had. If not for the biopsy, i would have not known and it would have eventually been the big 'C' word.
I am 4 weeks post op and all that scary stuff is behind me and i look forward to each new day, unlike 8 months ago when I wanted to sleep and not face anything.
I hope you find comfort and get your body back !!!
Best Wishes ,
