now an ovarian mass... help please

I had my hysto done two years ago this month and they took everything but my right ovary. Since then I have had several severe pain episodes on my right side. They thought it was my gallbladder so they took that out in July but that wasn't it. In november I had to go to the ER because the pain was the worst I have ever had. The doc in the ER did ct scans and found a mass on my right kidney and one by my right ovary. He sent me back to my regular doc who sent me for and ultrasound. The ultrasound didn't show anything on my kidney but a "complex mass "around my right ovary was visible. He refered me back to my OB and now he is having my getting some cancer blood test tomorrow and I am supposed to see him Friday. He is saying surgery again. I am so afraid of loosing my right ovary!! It's all I have left! I'm only 33 it seems young to have all of this wrong. Anyway, I am frazzled and I thought maybe one of you would have some advice or insight. Any thoughts are appreciated. Am I alone with this?

I just had my TAH and kept my ovaries but I wanted him to take them if he suspected anything at all because of my fear of Cancer showing up later...I am 32. He said he saw nothing and whatever was the problem with my uterus...it was contained.(he better be right!)
Start searching the Hormone Jungle section and start getting some fears answered for your peace of mind. I did that because I was thinking he would take my ovaries. Flood yourself with knowledge, that will be a great help to you.
Big Hugs!!!

I had my LAVH in February 2002. I had my right overy removed last summer due to a complex cyst and adhesions. The cyst had started out as simple, fluid filled and changed to complex, solid mass. My doctor said when it turns complex surgery is needed to evaluate and rule out cancer. My pathology all came back benign.

Your doctor may want to do surgery to evaluate what is going on - if you do need t have your last ovary removed you will need to be prapared for surgical menopause. You may find it helpful to visit The Hormone Jungle - the ladies over there are very helpful and encouraging.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I am really hoping that the ovary can stay and I won't have to go through the hormone thing. I watched my mom go throught it and it doesn't look fun. Does anyone have any idea why we get these things. I have multiple adhesions and when they took my gallbladder out a few months ago they said it had adhesions too. It's like I have them all through out my abdomen and pelvis. If I can keep my ovary I wonder if these problems with cysts and such will just continue. Any ideas? Thanks!

Unfortunately sometimes we cannot figure out what causes the problems. {{{sigh}}}

I am scheduled for another surgery in 3 weeks because I am having severe pelvic pain again - I wonder what they will find this time.

No kidding

I know what you mean. I feel like a science experiment. I hope your surgery goes well! Take care!
