Returning to Work

Hi folks. Had my sub total TAH on 1 December and was really hoping to return to work by early January. The doc said 4-6 weeks, his nurse says 6 weeks and here it seems like 6-8 weeks is more the norm. As compared to a major myomectomy, this surgery has gone very well. Still have the swelly belly and doing the walking in circles thing for gas but, really, so much less pain than the last one! So, any encouragement for my optimistic hopes of returning to work in a month? Health is first, but it certainly would be nice to have a few hours of leave left after this! I was thinking about half days for awhile but am not interested in setting back the healing...

This site has been a real gem. Thanks to all who have shared here - it is a huge help. Bless you all!

Returning to Work

Hi Livesoul,
Your dr is the best one to ask about how well healed you are, which will be the big question when its time to go back to work. One big consideration is what type of work you do and what it requires of you physically.
There are women who heal up and feel well enough to return to jobs at 4 weeks. I haven't seen all that many who do that and feel good.
Please be careful and don't push yourself. You can't hurry the healing. When the time comes ask your dr for sure. Happy healing.
's, Rita
