question about post op visit

I recently had my 3 month post op visist for pubo-vagnal sling surgery and told my doc i am still having some leakage not much he did a pelvic on me and said everything looks fine,then he told me to put to fingers in my vagina when i am at home and squeeze down and this sould help i was stunned by his remark he also did not have a nurse in the room when he examed me is this normal has anyone ever been told this by their urologist, i talk to a friend of mine and she said he should not say things like that any suggestions never had this happen before.

It sounds as if youre Dr was instructing you on how to do Kegel exercises. By placing 2 fingers in the vagina you will be able to feel the muscles contracting therefore knowing that youre doing the exercises correctly.

I can't comment on him not having a nurse in the room because each state has their own set of guidelines. Where I'm located its not manadatory that a male Dr have a nurse in the room during an examination; the reason that they DO have a nurse is to protect both the patient and the DR from anything that might come across as being misconstrued.

So from my viewpoint I see the DR having done nothing wrong.
