upcoming hysterectomy

I am approaching my 30th bday in a few weeks, and shortly thereafter will by having a hysterctomy to remove the uterus and cervix due to severe dysplasia. Had a tubal in 2000 after my 2 children were born, so I'm not feeling emotional as far as that goes. I am keeping my overies, which I'm thrilled about, but have read some things about the disfunction of the overies following a hysterectomy. Is that common, and should I expect that at some point? Also, have had recurring problems with hubby sexually with pain, I believe due to hitting the cervix....I'm guessing that will be eliminated, but I have a very small build, and am wondering will I need to worry about hitting something different with the cervix and uterus not being there at all? I don't expect clear cut answers for these questions, but it's nice to be able to clear my mind by getting my thoughts out somewhere, if that makes sense, so thanks for hearing me out.

upcoming hysterectomy

Hi Chicacherrycola,

I had my hyst over 18 months ago and kept my ovaries and they are still working great.

You might have read about ~sleeping ovaries~ after a hyst. Sometimes the ovaries go to sleep for a few weeks in post-op due to the trauma of surgery. If it did happen in your case, you could ask you Dr. about temporary HRT or taking a hormone test. Also, in my opinion, being 30, your younger age may be a good factor in your ovaries doing okay after surgery.

Best wishes,

mary

upcoming hysterectomy

I am 30 and just had a TVH 5 weeks ago. My ovaries decided to sleep for a few days. I experienced the hot flashes :burning: and had some crying during this time but it soon got back to normal. Everybodys experiences are different though. Cant answer your other question yet b/c we can't do the wild thing until Christmas but if I find out, I may scream it in the hills and let everybody know if it was good.

HI!
I'm 30 as well, and I had LAVH almost 2 weeks ago and feel great! (kept ovaries due to age).
I'm concerned as well regarding sex because I also experienced pain with sex. I have 4 weeks to go before I attempt that! LOL Hope this helps a little.
All the Best,
Laurie
