Merry Christmas from Ontario Canada!
Hi everyone. Well, here I am 14 days post op. I promised myself I would write to you all about my adventure. So here goes...
On Dec. 6 went for the operation. My DH took me in and he was nervous. Me on the other hand with many thanks to ativan was cool as a cucumber. Now, here's a mystery....from the time we went into the waiting room until the following morning....I have no memory. I do not remember going into OR or the recovery room or my husband and son visiting that evening. None. Gone.
Before the operation, my anesthesiologist put in an epidural with a tube that goes over you shoulder. This tube receives morphine. This bi-passes your tummy so it doesn't cause constipation or 'brain' problems. This is left for two days. No pain and my legs worked perfectly. They also put in a catheter and that was left for two days.
Was in hospital for 5 days. Had one bad night. All of a sudden, it was like a black cloud fell on me. Cry, cry ad cry. I was dripping sweat and my nose bled terribly. Turns out my hormones did a crash and my BP went through the roof...214 over 126! Now that shook me up! My anesthesiologist, GP and surgeon visited every day. Good guys. Oh and the food was awful...but I didn't mind cause I didn't have an appetite anyway. I just made fun of it.
So I came home on a Saturday and my DH has been so sweet and wonderful.
Now my mom...she's a different story. Lives on a granny flat on our farm and she's been a real...well you know. Have only seen her for 10 minutes since my operation. I call her and all she says is 'get up' get busy, get going! This was 7 days post op! What a woman.
Went for a 7 day check with my surgeon, he said everything looks really good. Today I went to my GP for a 14 day check and he can't believe how good I look. He's really pleased. They got the pathology report back and the OR report. Turns out I had internal bleeding, and the tumor was 'very large' and the pathology report showed the entire uterus was in the pre-cancer stage. He said if I waited any longer....whew! That was close, eh?
So here I am, feeling pretty good. The pain now is like before I had surgery. Actually all that awful pressure is gone and my lower back does not hurt.
So, here's to wishing each and everyone of you a Merry Christmas and a speedy recovery!

I'm so glad you're doing well and the path was good - as they say, timing in life is everything!
So, keep being a princess despite your mom, have a smooth recovery and a healthy new year.
Cheers

I am very happy to hear you are doing well. Maybe you should dial mom up one more time and say you feel up to a chat over tea. If not her loss. Great news that you got things in time. Have a peaceful holiday season. Allow yourself to be pampered. Robin

Glad you did well! I'm in Ontario too, never got the epidural for pain though. That would have been nice! Take care in recovery.

How about that? I grew up in the Niagara Region, and now I drive through Simcoe-Delhi when I go back for visits. I'm out in the London-Windsor corridor.
