I just had my remaining ovary removed because it had cysts on it.
I tried to talk my doc into taking it when I had the hyster done in june....but, they were concerned about me not having hormones. (I had endometriosis)
Anyway, I hope you don't have to suffer to much with the pain....I know it hurts.
Take care,
Tammy

its reassuring to find others with similiar issues. definately feels better to know you are not alone. I have one ovary left with complex cysts. It was discovered I had endo in march '04 when I had TAH..it should not have been a surprise my eldest sister has been infertile with endo all her life..I will probably need surgery soon,I also have major bowel issues..... probably cause its my left ovary located near descending colon i think.for a while they thought i had diverticulitis. I am wondering how those who had second suregery to remove their last remaining ovary did.please tell me..good luck sisters

Hi. Maven
I had my right ovary out first due to 8cm. cyste on it that burst right as they opened me up. Thats when they found the endo (stage 4) all over my bowels. My uterus was wrapped up in a web of adhesions, to put it nicely A BIG MESS. One yr later got real sick flu like syptoms, fever , went in on Super bowl sunday, hubby not too happy, lol. They found another 8cm cyste on my left ovary, went in to take it out and under it my bowel had ruptured. The endo had ate right though it and I was full of infection. It was so bad they said if I hadn't come in when I did I wouldn't have lived another 2 days. They still could not get my uterus out. It was too wrapped up . I ended up with a colostomy bag for 6 months while my colon healed. They reversed it and I started having periods again. Now I don't have any ovarys' so how? Well, A piece(very small) got left in by accident when the were taking the left one out and when they reconnected my bowel it started working again. So I would have periods and PAIN again and worst of all the endo was growing again and very fast.
I had to find another gyn. who was willing to do something. I did and had my hyst. on Dec. 13. It was a 5 hr. surgery I had a large amount of blood loss and had to have a transfusion. My doc. had to start at the top of me and take everything out cut all the endo out and put it back where it belonged. cuz NOTHING was where it was suppose to be, the endo had moved it and wrapped it all up in different places. I was very sore for first day and a half but got up and started walking and everthing is working good so far. Hot flashes are a pain but I'll tolerate them it's better then worring about that endo still growing. It was literally eating through my organs. I ended up losing my gall bladder. appendicts and a section of my bowel to it eating though them.
So I tell people I am the Queen of Endo problems.
You can get though anything if you just have a positive attitude. I was not afraid of any of my surgery's especially the hyst, I had faith in my doc. that he could do it. My husband on the other hand was a wreck
Well thats about all sorry this was sooo long.
I hope it helps someone, to know they are not alone, and we are here to talk to.

I think my doctor wants to do a vertical incision this time ( at least that was his plan last july ...) then I chickened out and decided to wait. He was concerned of my past c- section, and hyster , adeno, endo and all sorts of uglies I am sure are in there so going back in same incision was out! LOL
Besides he said he could really have agood look around...Hmmmm now I'm thinking can he do a tummy tuck with that?? LOL ( probably not)
I alternate from accepting what wil come to be to crying and saying no way can I do surgery again. I am a complete mess.
I am seeing his associate this thursday as he had to cancel my appt with him, and he is going away till mid feb..... You are a real trroper and I am in awe of anyone who can rally through this ordeal, and march on!

My incision from my second big surgery went from my belly-button to were a vertical would be. So my doc. went back through that one only it is above my button this time and goes around and down even lower it thats possible ,lol. I will never have a nice flat tummy again. Oh well, I've been married for 23 yrs. my husband says he doesn't care. I'm not out to impress anyone as long as I'm healthy. Thank god for 1 pc. bathing suits. MY scar is all healed up and no more puffyness, just a crooked line down my tummy,LOL

I had my c section an hyster through a horizontal Bikini ( never again ) LOL cut. so a vertical would be new for me and I can't imagine recouperating from it.I held my tummy together horizontally afterwards for ages amd still worry about it spilling its contents...

I had TAH Jan,20/04 and have been in pain ever since with cysts. I had asked my Dr. to remove the ovaries at the time of my TAH and he said he would only if they were damaged (i was told this after the surgery). I was never sent my surgical report or pathology report(i live 2 hours away from my gyn and had asked that they be sent to family Dr.) over a year ago i finally went in to family doc and he said there was a mass on my ovary he could feel it. it has taken over a year to finally get a date for surgery...all i have to say is if someone wants their ovaries removed because of this and they are done having kids the choice should be up to you. We know our own bodies. I guess I didnt read the fine print on my authorization for surgery. I assumed at the time he was taking them out and then in recovery he told me he left them in. so now he gets to go back in again. hmmmmmm...makes me wonder just how much money this man is worth.must make mega bucks with returning surgeries i imagine...well thats just my and it is how i feel.

I left it up to my surgeon when I had my hyster plan was to leave them in IF they looked great.I was told after surgery she removed one with a nasty choclate cyst on it...ok so she left one and about a year later it developed complex and simplex cystrs and now I am still stalling surgery to remove teh remaining ovary stillwith complex cysts ( obviously did not resolve almost a year later) ...Makes you wonder how many good ovaries go bad after hyster?? I have read enough here to se that is apparently a trend for sure that bears further investigation.

They found a cyst on my right ovary. They didnt say anything much about it except theyd probably remove it when they did my tah(my ovary) . It was very tender. I have bad cramps and pain during my periods and heavy bleeding. I guess i fear that the chance, though small,is there that there's cancer. It is a worry of mine because my mom died of cancer , but it was breast cancer.I started this all out simply because of a prolapsed bladder and uterus. The uterus is also enlarged.
