Incision sore/red

Hi All,

I'm 3 weeks post op and my horizontal TAH incision is still pretty sore. About 5 or 6 of the steri strips are off and about half of the incision still looks red. It feels painful when I'm walking around, maybe having to do with the cutting of muscles, nerves, etc. It's not oozing or anything though, should I be concerned?

I wish I knew what was considered 'normal' for an incision at this stage!

I had mine on 11/30 and it was still pretty red and sore last week at this time - it gets better everyday. Take it easy and my doc told me that the heating pad should be my best friend - it helped a lot.

Incision sore/red

Personally for me, week 3 was one of the hardest pain wise. I heard that is when alot of the numbing and anthesia starts to wear off and nerves are starting to wake up. You still have alot of healing to do, so make sure you still pamper yourself.
Maybe call your doc and let him/her know about the redness. It always better to be safer then sorry.
Gentle hugs!!

Incision sore/red

Thanks for the advice, ladies!

Right smack in the middle of the incision I keep getting a tiny little sore, almost like a pimple full of puss. I think I'll tell the doc about that, too. Probably just some irritation but like you said, better to be safe than sorry!

If you have redness with puss and/or fever, it is a good idea to ask the dr about it, just in case. Best wishes to you and post back to the thread to keep us posted.
