What can I expect from my first post op exam

I'm going for my first post op in six days, which will be three weeks and a day after TAH BSO. What will likely be involved in this first exam? He will also be seeing me at six weeks, at which time he has indicated he'll set my return-to-work date. What can I expect at the six-week exam?

Any TAH BSO sisters willing to share their post op exam experiences??

What can I expect from my first post op exam

Hi, LadyBama,
I also had a TAH/BSO; my first post-op was today.
I had a bikini incision with dissolving sutures. The doc removed all the steri-strips and swabbed the incision. No at home maintenance for the incision except to perhaps put Neosporin on it.
Doc also did an internal exam of my vagina (not like a pap test; simply inserted a gloved finger) as well as inserting a swab. Said everything was good.
Told me I would have no restrictions AFTER six weeks. But reiterated the importance of keeping on the same program (no lifting, no sex, etc.) until the full six weeks were up.
My next doc appt is in four months.
Scheduled to return to work after 6 weeks (January 17th).
Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

What can I expect from my first post op exam

My first exam after surgery was at 2 weeks, and the doctor just looked at the incision. I was expecting to have stitches out, but it turns out I didn't have anything that needed to be removed.
My 6 week exam included an internal exam, which I was anxious about, but it wasn't actually a big deal.

What can I expect from my first post op exam

My first post-op was at 3 weeks. Dr. checked the incisions, did a quick pelvic and then asked if we had any questions. Had lots and he took the time to listen and answer all of them. Told me that I could begin driving and do very light housework.
I will see him on the 23rd for my final visit. I will return to work on Jan. 16 - 1/2 days for one to two weeks.

Thanks LadyBama....I too was wondering the same thing. I sure hope you are doing well!
Anyone wanna share on TAH post-op visits? Especially if you are a diabetic. I seem to be healing slowly and was told its due to my diabetes. Any of you having the same problem?
Best wishes to all!

That's great! So, you got 6 weeks off eh? What type of work do you do? (pm me if you like), Did he do just a gloved "insertion" vagina check or like a pap test? Did it hurt? I can't imagine anything going in there quite yet!
