Ovarian Cancer question
Ladies, please could you tell me what the symptoms of Ovarian cancer are? I have looked through the internet and have all of the symptoms listed on the various sites... however, I am aware of 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing' and 'why waste a good worry',
soooo,,,, I need to know from the real women on this site what their symptoms were before diagnosis. I'm having the following;
Extreme fatigue
Very extended abdomen
Sickness
Extreme abdominal pain
I'm now very hairy - everywhere
Weight gain
I went for an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago but was so tender they had to do an internal one and I cried like a baby at that, it was so painful the doctor had to stop. My gyn has written to me to discuss further in another appointment but I don't have the date yet (due to the Christmas holidays)
help please

Ovarian Cancer question
Jools,
I am so sorry you are not feeling well, All of the symptoms you are experiencing are symptoms of Ovarian Cancer BUT they can also be symptoms of other things. I think you definately need to have the ultrasound done as well as possibly at CT scan as this will help to determine if there are any visible tumors. My understanding is that it is the tumors that cause the ascites (the fluid bulid up in the belly). Hang in there and continue to be persistent with your doctors. Your will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Ovarian Cancer question
Hi Julue,
Yep, montauk is right. those COULD be symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, but they just as easily could NOT be. That's the problem with Ovca symptoms: they can be very vague, causing confusing with other problems.
Don't waste a good panic, but be prudent in getting to the bottom of this. Request a CT scan, a ca-125, and a referal to a gyn/oncologist if the findings from those tests are suspicious.
chances are, it's not Ovca, but you do want to get to the bottom of whatever it is that is making you feel so poorly.
Good luck, and God bless. Please follow up and let us know how things are going.
xoxo

Ovarian Cancer question
Someone swiped my line: never waste a good panic. You do have many symptoms of ovarian cancer but when you mentioned hairy, I thought of polycystic ovaries--not cancer. Please be sure to get tested and have a thorough exam. Between the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and Natonal Ovarian Cancer Coalition, symptoms include: abdominal pressure, bloating or discomfort; nausea, indigestion, and gas; constipation, diarrhea or frequent urination; abnormal bleeding; unexplained change in weight; shortness of breath; ongoing unusual fatigue.
