Estrace cream

I'm using the cream nightly vaginally, I have noticed great improvement in my incontinence issues and cystocele problems but it doesn't do anything for hot flashes or night sweats, would it be too much estrogen to be on if I was to use oral and cream?

Estrace cream

Hi!

The vaginal estrogens aren't meant to treat systemic symptoms. They are prescribed specifically to treat the vaginal/urethral tissues, and they do a good job of it!

I have been on hormone therapy since the day after my surgery and at around the seven month post-op mark had to add vaginal estrogen. No matter what method of estrogen I have used--pills, creams or my Vivelle Dot--and no matter what strength, I still need vaginal estrogen to keep those tissues healthy.

Lots of women use both types of estrogen without trouble, though there have been a few who have had symptoms of too much estrogen when using vaginal estrogen along with systemic estrogen. It has never been a problem for me. The only way to know if it would be okay for you or not is to try it. If you are bothered by the hot flashes and night sweats, it's a good idea to discuss with your doctor using an additional estrogen to control those symptoms.

I hope this helps!

Estrace cream

Vaginal estrogens will not help with hot flashes or night sweats. It very rarely enters the bloodstream, it stays in the vaginal tissues to help with dryness and other vaginal issues. If you're having hot flashes and night sweats you should contact your doctor.
