Frequent illness since TAH on 08/17/05

Hello Ladies, my goodness its been awhile! I am almost 5 moths post op and I have a problem I am hpoping someone can help with or at least relate to. My TAH was on 08/17/05 and since then I have been ill quite frequently. Of course the first month was pretty bad, nauesa, vomiting, etc. But so far I have had a stomache bug 2 or 3 times, a kidney infection, a bladder infection, 5 yeast infections and 3 upper respitotory infections. My last 6 weeks have gone something like this : Thanskgiving weekend, Vomiting, the week after fatigue trying to recover, the next week, upper respiritory, recover, the next week, yeast, the same week, kidney infection, 2 weeks later bladder infection , next week stomache bug, Xmas eve, vomiting, last week into this week, upper respiritory, last night, vomiting again!
I am SO tired of this. My GYN says I will take a year to recover because I lost 8 pts of blood during surgery (yes, 8!) and my resistance is down, my GP says thats not the reason, he feels it is stress and I should exercise, I told him I was too busy being sick and too weak or tired the other half of the time to get any exercise. I do admit, I am stressed, I run 2 small businesses, have 4 children living at home, 1 away from home and a disabled mother to care for. SO you see, I really DON"T have time for me even when I am not ill. I am the kind of person who gets sick MAYBE 1 time a year. I cant take this anymore, I feel like crying because I am so frustrated. Can someone please help me?

Hi Skyegirton, I had my op just a few weeks before you 3rd August. Before that I was lucky enough to evade any cold, flu or whatever was going around but now you name it Ive had it since. My down fall is sore throats I just get over one and a week later I get another. I also had a very small cut in my finger which ended up a right state and I had to get antiobitic cream finally after 3 weeks it cleared up but was very painful. Anyway I asked my doctor about this and he said it just takes time for our immune systems to get back up and going so this often happens. I hope your well soon, Im sorry about the sickness youve been having. Not sure what weather you have at this time of year, Im hoping in the spring a spell of warm weather might do the trick.
You take care.
xxxx

Wow, it sounds like your body has just had it! I really don't know any explanation for any of this. I wish I could help.

I know I get into cycles of illness.......I get run down from one thing and during recovery I'm susceptible to the next thing jumping on me.

If there's any way possible at all......you need a vacation! I know it's easier said than done but sounds like you need about an entire month of "you" time. Isolation time. Just so you can heal.

I'm being very careful about keeping myself isolated right now, though I'm still very early in the recovery. Five weeks today. I just know I'm still tired and fatigued and would probably get sick pretty easily.

What about vitamins?

I do the vitamin thing every morning, I am thinking of drinking Noni juice, I tried it once -YUCK, but I have heard it helps build your immunity up, just dont know how true it is.

I had mine 8/29/05 and have been hospitalized 2 times since then. I also lost a lot of blood. Nausea, vomiting, severe stomach pain, viruses etc. you name it. It has been the most frustrating 4 months of my life. The docs almost make me feel like I am going crazy, but I know how I feel. They say it was major surgery and I have to give my body a time to heal. I to don't get sick very often so it is a little overwhelming to me. Unfortunately I have no answers for you but I can relate to how you feel. Hang in there. It has to get better.
