4 weeks postop...discharge and pain

Hello all, glad I found this place. I had a LAVH done on December 7th, along with a TVT sling for incontinence and they burned my trigone (bladder). I was doing very well until yesterday when I went back for my post op visit. The doctor did something to me and ever since then I have had discharge and cramping. He told me not to have sex for another 7-10 days, and while that bothered me at first, now there is no way! I have a call into the nurse to see if this is normal, or something to worry about. I was cleared to return to work on Monday, but until this gets better I am not going back.

I hope that I did not overdo during the holidays. I really tried to not lift or move anything heavy. I did clean out my entire kitchen (14 hours over 2 days) last week, and am now working on my step-children's room.

4 weeks postop...discharge and pain

Hi Sarah

Sorry to hear you're having cramping. I hope you get your answer soon from the doc's office.

IMHO you're still quite early in your recovery and may have overdone things. The checkpoints on this site give a very good idea of what to expect when and outline dos and donts to follow. You may not have moved anything heavy, but all that bending and stretching......

There are many posts here about what happens when you take the red superwoman cape from the cleaners too early! Usually your body will let you know by getting sore and swollen, sometimes some bleeding.

So sit down, stick up your feet and remember that you're a princess who still needs to be pampered.

4 weeks postop...discharge and pain

I had my 4 week checkup yesterday and experienced the same thing. I had a good bit of discharge (brownish yellow color not blood) and the Dr. told me to expect it after the vaginal exam. Apparently, the stitches dissolving cause this. I also had silver nitrate applied to a spot that was not healing and read on another post that that causes a discharge too. The achy feeling (mine was not what I would call a crampy feeling) lasted all day, but is better today. I am still more uncomfortable today than I was before the exam. So, I think what you are feeling is normal, but call the Dr. before the weekend just to reassure yourself. Hang in there - we will get through this!!! But, you probably need to take it easy this weekend - me too!!!
