Pre-op yesterday...went well

Well...I had my pre-op yesterday and my doc is so cool. I got all my questions answered and a couple of good things to report. I am having a LAVH-BSO and because it is going to be laproscopic I could be able to go home in as little as 24 hours and possibly be able to drive after a week.
I asked about future problems like prolapse and she is going to place a couple of strategically placed sutures to help in preventing it. She learned this recently at a seminar.
Well....I also got my pre-op instructions and I have to do a bowel prep
So after my appointment I went to the mall and wal-mart to stock up on things, since I wont be able to for awhile. You should have heard my checkbook. It actually said "Ouch" I have 2 prissy, teenage daughters that had this list that was a mile long. Heaven for bid (sp) they run out of eyeliner or something. ha ha One thing I didn't spend nearly the amount on that I used to...monthly things. YEAH!!!
The closer I get the more nervous I get. My girls are going to spend the weekend with their day so my sweetie and I are going to spend a nice weekend together before he'll be taking care of all of us.I think that is what I woory the most about..having to have someone take care of me and my girls. I was single raising my girls for a long time so that is something to get used to.
Wish me luck and I'll post again before my big day I'm sure.

Good luck. Just a thought here though, I had a LAVH, and didn't feel that great to drive at 1 week. I did once, and it was uncomfortable. I did drive at 2 weeks and it was okay. I had the LAVH and was in the hospital 2 nights. It is more invasive than a TVH, because of where the laprascop goes in. Don't want to put a damper on your good news, but it still is quite uncomfortable where the 3 incisions are. I was glad to stay in the hospital for 2 nights!

I have a friend that her mom had a TVH with a BSO, her doctor is the same as mine, and he wouldn't let her drive for 4 weeks. Her surgery was a week before mine. We figured it was due to the BSO, since I can drive, and have been at 2 weeks, with the same doctor.

Guess it just shows how different everyone is. Good luck with your surgery!
