I live in Murray, Ky and just found out two days ago that 1. pre-cancerous cells were found 2. The option of a complete hysterectomy vs. hormones, biopsy's and/or D&C's the rest of my life. That day had to be one of the worst days in 49 years of my life. Any suggestions on how to cope???

Hi, I live in Crofton,Kentucky. It sounds like you are going through alot right now and have alot of choices to make . I would definitely do research on your options to help you to make the decision you are most comfortable with. I don't know if you are a relgious person or not, but praying helps me deal with alot of situations in my life (even though I don't do it as much as I should). I wish I could find the words to help you. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I know that you will make the right decision on what avenue to take.
Hope this response helps you in some way.

Hello Velvet 85

First of all, thank you for your post! Yes! I am a Christian and boy have I been praying about this. I have done research on my situation which has brought me to the decision to have a hysterectomy. A couple of weeks ago by divine appt. I met a lady while standing in a line at our university who had the exact same situation as I right now and talked extensively with me (she is a Christian too!) That was certainly a confirmation to me that God was in the middle of this. I have to have a couple of tests done before I can get on with the surgery. Right now my best guess is that it will be done sometime in late March. What problems are you having/or had. I don't think you ever said?

Hello Gracefully Aging

Glad to hear that there are some fellow christian women on this website! I had a LAVH on 1/20 for adenomyosis (a form of endo). I had heavy prolonged periods with alot of pain that gradually got worse over the last few months. Doc suggested that I had an endometrial abaltion so I scheduled one for Dec. and then backed out because I found out it could take one year to see results and I had a good possibility I would have to have a hyster. anyway and I didn't want to go through all of that. I was bleeding 25 days in a 30 day month.I've had a great recovery so far . I still have some pain , but nothing some ibuprofen can't take care of . I over did it the other day though. As you know , we had great weather this weekend and I decided to go for a short walk(10 Minutes). Anyway, combined making thank you notes and being on the computer too long, I paid for it later and had to take a pain pill to help me sleep when my bedtime rolled around. I think I've learned my lesson and will try to rest more. I have a great friend who I attend church with who asked our women's sunday school class if they would like to bring meals while I am recovering. Including a few other friends who also brought, our family had meals for 1 week after my surgery. What a blessing! Hubby and I have no female relatives left in our family because they have all passed away over the last ten years (5 to be exact) and we didn't really have anyone in the family to help. My pastor drove 70 miles to come pray with me before my surgery in the surgery center and had to spend the night because my surgery was so early in the morning. It helped me to so much for him to be ther and pray with me. Do you have any friends who have had a hysterectomy? I found that they have been the most understanding of what I am going through because they have been there. Others aren't as understanding, I guess because they don't really know what we are going through.

Bless your heart!!! Your pastor sounds like a gem. As far as friends go, my daughter's mother had one several years ago, and did not paint a very good picture at all. In fact, after talking with her three weeks ago, I was more upset when I left then when I got there! A friend of mine whose daughter had one done last year didn't paint a very positive picture either. Both women elaborated on the pain issue for an abdominal hyster. which is what I have to have. I'm sure you've been to the place where you don't know what to do, so you leave it in the Lord's hands. At that percise time is when I met that lady at school standing in a line and talked with me for a few minutes until we had to go our seperate ways. She gave me her phone number if I had any other questions; she was a 'God send'. Im not too good with abbreviations; what is LAVH? I'm also reading "Your Best Life Now" by Joel Osteen which gives me peace. Currently I'm in between churches, but plugged into Jesus!!

hi, I am from Mayfield, ky and had my total abdominal hysterectomy {tubes, ovaries, uterus, the whole kit and kaboodle} on March 3rd at Murray. They were great and the surgery went good. They took me down around 11am and I was on my room about 2:20pm. I had a spinal with demerol and they gave me shots of Toradal in my I.V. I was up walking the next morning. I had a terrible bout with gas and bowel movements, but they took care of me with chewable gas tablets, a suppository, stool softeners and all. They were good to me in the hospital. I walked a whole lot to help relieve the gas, that helped. I am now bout 3 1/2 weeks post-op.. The most important thing I can say is to do exactly what the dr says: no lifting, sweeping, vaccuming.. You may feel great but you have hundreds of stitches that you cannot see that have got to heal.. be good to yourself!! Let me hear from you..

I also had precancerous cells and had gone every 3 months for a pap not to mention the cervical freeze, the cone biopsy, etc, etc. Anyway my dr and I just kept putting off the hysterectomey. Right before I got my last pap results my dr. had a patient be diagnoised with severe cervical cancer at that point he recommended that I go ahead with surgery which I did. I won't lie it was 1 month from you know where but looking back it was all worth it. Now I don't have to dread the pap results anymore. And although something else may come down the road for me I don't have to worry about cervical cancer. Best of luck to you and remember although there is pain (and you will pay if you overdo) it will come to an end.

Hi,
I was also diagnosed with pre-cancerous cells. I had a biopsy last year and they suggested just to watch. This year my dr told me that the cells were changing and suggested a TAH. After my surgery my biopsy was returned as clear of cancer which I thank God daily for!

Almost 3 months now since surgery. I did have some post-surgical complications but all is fine now and I can say that this was one of the best things that have ever happened to me. I am looking forward to enjoying the summer without Aunt Flo always interfering!

Good luck to you-you'll be in my prayers for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

Take care.
