six week check up--Now what?

I'm going in for mine too and was wondering if they are some things I should ask (while I'm face to face rather than remembering them after I get home). Thanks!!

six week check up--Now what?

Ask about sex! Anything about sex! Should it hurt, should there be any bleeding, if it does hurt what is cause for concern to phone? If there is bleeding what should I expect and for how long, when should there be cause for concern to phone? I think the sex issue is all of our concerns and when we go home and encounter sex the first time and it hurts or there is some blood we freak out! You need to know for yourself what to expect and when to phone! Most likely when you start out you will be dry, you should ask how long that dryness should last and if it last to long should you call. Perhaps if you are still dry you may need to add a vaginal estrogen creme, or invest in a good lube!

Ask what a normal discharge should be? and when there is cause for concern for a phone call. I had a nasty discharge and it turned out I had a granuloma, had that taken care of when I still had discharge I went back and my second Dr. treated me for granulation. Now I have no discharge what so ever!

Do they do a annual exam? My Dr. wants to see me every year for a well woman exam.

What are some of the symptoms you could experience during the first year of your hysterectomy recovery and what would constitue a phone call? I have adhesions, my colon is adhered to my pelvic floor, so I asked my Dr. what I could expect with my adhesions and we decided to wait a year to re-evaluate me. We concluded that as long as I can live with them I am better off than going back under due to adhesions perhaps reoccuring or getting worse with surgery!

Talk to your Dr. about menopausal symptoms or if you think you are experiencing any and what can be done to relieve those symptoms!

.....and remember if you kept your ovaries you will most likely still have ovulation pangs and PMS....YIKES!
