Home Sweet Home from the Castle

Hello my sisters! I am home from the castle. Surgery Monday afternoon was a success! Details to follow at a later date. Bladder works well, hope the BM kicks in now that I'm home. So far just gas. I showered and walked 4 times yesterday each walk was further than the previous one. Felt pretty good yesterday. May have over did it a bit, cause I'm sore and achey today. But I tend to hurt more 48 -72 hours for me. Almost didn't shower this morning before leaving the castle. But, I managed it and felt better after. Hubby said to let my sisters know I'm home, then I gotta rest. Tired, can't get much sleep in the castle. Drinking lots of water, my favorite. More to follow ASAP.

Hats off to my sisters

Home Sweet Home from the Castle

Thanks so much for the get well greetings! To my sisters who are SOON to visit the castle I'd like to share some ideas. I recommend getting trial size shampoo/cond, body wash. Get a hand mit and the back retangle mit with handles for washing the back. Also, get the in-shower lotion after washing smooth this on rinse and YOUR DONE! It's a one-system step. You gotta LOVE IT! Use a shower proof bag for these items so you can hang in it the shower or over that chair in the shower. Shower at my castle lacked a shelf or hook, so I used the chair to put my goods on. Needless to say I still dropped something, just squat carefully and slowly and hold on the the bar in the shower. The skwish pillows are AWESOME, i have a neck one that doubles for a donut (i'm using it now) and a heart one that works great on the tummy, the top of the heart allows the rounded parts to go on each side of abdomin and the curved in part splits so not to press on your incision (if you have one as I do which is vertical). I did not experience chapped lips or sore throart, but was prepared for each. You may want to bring hand wipes or santizer though which I forgot. And a clip-on book light would be a good idea, so you don't have to use the bright over bed light in the middle of the night, if you want to read or update your journal (which i started a hyster-journal day of surgery). I feel FANTASTIC! More uncomfortable achey than real pain. My back bothers most, can't really find a comfortable position for long. Keep moving thats the key. The more you move positions and walk the better it feels. Good Luck sisters.
