New with question about recurring CIS

Hi, I"m new here but not new to Cervical dysplasia & CIS. I was treated with a LEEP 5 years ago and have always gone for my checks which have been fine. I had my last one, last February and all was clear. Over Christmas I developed pain in my left lower abdomen. It's taken until today to have an ultra sound. I don't have the results yet. I have also been having trouble with urgency and frequency and what I thought was dribbling. Tonight I was reading that Cervical CA can have a clear discharge. Now I'm thinking maybe this has come back and I have been thinking it is just urine. I am so angry if it is as I asked for a hysterectomy and my Dr. told me, if it comes back we will think about it. I know I'm jumping the gun here but what do you think are the chances of it progressing to this point in a year, seeing that it is supposed to be slow growing? I'm going to call my Dr. and ask to see him again because I never mentioned the clear discharge (assumed it was urine). Thanks for any thoughts you might have.
Warm regards, Pansy

New with question about recurring CIS

Pansy,
I had the clear discharge. My gyn's nurse first told me that I was probably leeking a bit overnight because I noticed it in the morning when I woke up with wet pajamas. Since my pap smears had always been fine, they didn't suspect cancer. There was no sense of urinary urgency or frequency and no pain. My cancer progressed very quickly, but that's rare. If your pap showed nothing a year ago, chances are that you are fine. If cervical cancer was large enough that it was causing a discharge, your doctor would have seen it when he did your last eternal exam.

Might you have a urinary track infection? That can cause the symptoms you describe.

When do get the results of the sonogram? My gyn usually called me the same day that I had it.

Let us know what happens.

New with question about recurring CIS

Thank you Janie for your thoughts. I have taken to wearing a pad at night in the past few months due to the same thing, waking up with damp pants. I assumed I've become incontinent for some reason. I only go to my G.P for my paps now so I'm not sure if he would have seen it or not. I did notice that when he gives me a pap I hardly feel it as opposed to my gyn who really scrapes you. My diagnosis of CIS went very fast as well. I had 1 low grade Cin 1 and when they retested 6 months later it was CIS. I do not have the herpes virus. I am going to wait till Monday and if I haven't heard by then I'm going in. I live in Canada and we have to wait for the Dr. to get the results.
I was tested for a urinary track infection a couple of weeks ago which was negative but I did have a trace of blood in my urine.
Thanks again,
Pansy

Hi, Just an update. I had my ultrasound on Tuesday and the Dr.s nurse called today and said the Dr. wanted to see me next Wednesday to go over the results. She said it wasn't urgent but, now I'm really nervous.

New with question about recurring CIS

Pansy,
The nurse called but wouldn't give you any hints? How maddening! And you have to wait until next week to find out? Sheeze.

Remember, it could be many different things with many different treatments.

I forgot to mention something before. Herpes has nothing to do with cervical cancer. But I don't think you have cancer anyway because you've been followed so closely. Your doctor would have seen it and the paps would have picked it up. Paps usually work.

Waiting is ALWAYS the worst part. Hang in there and do not forget to let us know what the doctor says when you see him. Will you be seeing a gyn to have the results explained?

Hugs,
Janie
