I'm Home From the Castle, One Week Post-Op

Hello Hystersisters,

Thank you for your prayers for my TAH BSO last Tuesday. Due to the quantity, size, and placement of the fibroids my surgery was on the complex end. Additionally, I have a blood disorder so I lost a liter of blood during surgery. Now my abdomen, waist and hips look like someone beat me to a pulp with a baseball bat!

I am recovering well in spite of all the complications. I took myself off the painkillers the day after I got home because they made me sick and I'm now on Tylenol.

Although I've been on stool softeners, gas-x, prune juice, raisins, and oatmeal, I'm still having trouble having a BM. It's amazing how much power that part of our body has on making us feel well or making us want to throw up! I'm sure there's comedy somewhere in that topic!

Anyway, I'm on the road to recovery and am so grateful for you--my sisters--in preparing me for the before, during, and after surgery concerns and questions.

This site is absolutely the best.

I'm happy your surgery went fine and you are recovering well. I too had large fibroids and was anemic going into surgery on the 16th. After I came home I had severe gas pains despite taking Gas-X and stool softeners. But once I stopped taking the pain meds I'm not hurting as intense when having a BM. Now I'm getting sick and my constant coughing is causing me to bleed again. Also, I wake up with night sweats.
