Swelly Belly Blues!

Hello to all my beautiful HysterSisters! Had my supracervical hysterectomy on 11/30/2005, and am feeling pretty good for the most part except for the belly thang! Out of sheer vanity I ask this question: when the heck does it go away? will it ever look "less swelly"? I suppose I should give it more time (6 months, a year maybe?). Diet is really good (fiber, green veggies, salads, minimal lean meats/fish, no soda or coffee, sweets etc). So its not like I'm gaining extra pounds in that area. When I stand up, I notice a "pouch with a ledge" ha ha..that's the only way to describe it and it's getting on my nerves. My clothes fit good and its not noticeable till I get naked (so what am I complaining about?). One of my sisterinlaws "thinks" she is "thin" and constantly makes references to weight/diet/exercise. If she knew the turmoil I went thru to have this surgery she'd probably keep her mouth shut...anywho, what can I do to reduce this puffiness?? It really shows up mid-afternoon till nighttime. The next morning, my belly looks back to normal! Very weird. Well I hope all us gals are healing up nicely; don't over do it. Any help is truly appreciated!!!

Swelly Belly Blues!

That darned swelly belly! During my recovery, I just surrendered and learned to embrace it. The following article should help shed some light:

In the meantime, keep up with all the pampering, water drinking, walking, eating healthy and sleeping. My recovery was when I finally learned how to listen to my body.........it knows what it wants, and so will yours. Take care.............s......Deb

Swelly Belly Blues!

Hi

"Pouch with a ledge" ... I remember it well! Note remember ... I don't have it now, which should give you some encouragement! I think that 'swelly belly' is one of the most posted subjects!

I think mine had just about gone at the 3-4 month mark, so you've a way to go yet. Everyone's different, but it's major surgery and amazed me just how long it took everything to settle down.

So, hang in there and take care!

Swelly Belly Blues!

I have nothing to add except I feel your pain. I tried to roll on my side to sleep the other night and it felt like someone erected a guardrail in my stomach.

I wish you peace and comfort.
