Will my sex drive be affected even though I will have my ovaries?

I have so many questions!
But this one is really important.
Will my sex drive be affected after the surgery?
They are taking my uterus and my cervix but leaving my ovaries in place because I am so young!
Please tell me what you guys know!
Thanks so much!
I thank God for this website!

I can only speak from experience but my sex drive wasn't affected at all. I kept my ovaries and by the end of the six weeks post-op I couldn't WAIT until I was given the all clear for sex. At my six week appointment my surgeon gave me the all-clear and then glanced over at my husband and said "I hope you are well rested" because he knew he would be exhausted soon.

Good luck to you. I wish you the same outcome.

Rachel:

Although everyone is different, I can speak for myself (as I was cleared for sex yesterday) everything is great since DH and I couldn't wait after we got go ahead . I still have my ovaries and cervix. Your ovaries may initially go into a shock right after surgery, but should pick up where they left off. I think if you have a strong drive before, it will continue. Response should continue too, and may be better . Of course this is just my experience, but I've read alot here and many sisters have the same.

I'll be thinking about you on the 14th.

Thanks so much for reassuring me about the sex thing.
I havent even hit my 30 year old prime yet!
And I cant wait!
So it relieves me to know that It should not be affected.

Mine seemed to be enhanced right from the hospital. I refused to let my husband touch me or kiss me for about two weeks, because muscles inside started to move when he was touching my face. I really didn't expect that response.

Mine has increased!

Hiya Rachel
I'm only 14 days post op so we've only had 'outercourse', but my sex drive is very much alive and kicking
I'm finding it much easier to reach the big O, it feels just as nice, if not nicer, and Halleluia, there's no pain!!!
All the best with the op.

Well, I guess that I get to be the bearer of bad news here!

Initially at six weeks post op I couldn't wait and the sex was incredible! However, since then it seems that my drive has dwindled... I don't know whether to relate it to the fact that I am back to work and am just too tired or if my surgery has affected it somehow.

I still have one ovary and it is working quite well, so I know that it's not a hormonal thing.

I am 38 years old and am hoping that it's just a work/tired type of thing!

Any advice???

Keep your chin up

Hey PJL
I am only approaching 30, and all my girlfriends tell me that your drive goes wild with that magical number.
So I am truly looking forward to it. I just hope that my Hubby can keep up. But I know from having my children young stress and fatigue can really put a damper on ones sex drive. I had both of my children by the time that I was 25 so I really didnt have much time for sex. Between work and diaper changes who would have time. I would have to tell myself that it will be worth it. Then once it was over it would be worth it. I know from experience that taking care of yourself and giving yourself time to rest makes a happy hubby. So hang in there, have a nice glass of wine and remember it's not a chore it's a blessing!
Especially not having to worry about birth control now.
Have a wonderful day!

Thanks for your post! It really helps to talk to women who truly understand.

I need to make more of an effort and remember that you are right, it is a blessing and not a chore. Hubby is really good about it and doesn't complain much, but I can see that it may be bothering him a bit.

By the time that I get home from work, I am so exhausted and that seems like the last thing on the list....

Thanks again!
