I have been put on continuous low dose antibiotics because of UIT's. I was very concerned and didnt want to go them but I have had about 8 UIT's since June last year I have to self cath and am starting to feel very fed up. I am going back to see my specialist next week and he is talking about cuting the sling again. I had a TVT done in November 2004 had it cut in December 2004 had the TVT tape removed in April 2005 and a sling put in to replace it. Had the sling cut in June 2005 and now they are talking about cutting the sling again due to scar tissue.
If anyone has had a similar experience please tell me what the outcome was as I am starting to get very depressed about it all.
I know how frustrating it is when things aren't going along so well. You expect one thing, and something totally different is happening, and you feel like you have no control over what is going on with your own body!
Hope your dr appt next week goes well and he has some answers for you!
I had a tvh and bladder lsing in June of 05. Right away i was retaining. I had to self cath for 6 weeks. Then the uroligist cut the sling. Reluctantly I might add. After that I still had pain and pressure. i went to a uro gyn and he cut the sling again. I do not leak and I think that the scar tissue helps hold it up. I still have problems with my bladder though. I still feel that my bladder does not empty all the time. i check my residuals still. i now have a small cystocele and 3 rectocele. Did they give you another sling because of leaking? Did you leak prior to the bladder sling being put in? I was not, so i probabley did not need a sling, but who knows?
my daughter had to take macobid for a while because she was getting bladder infections. I think it is ok for a while, maybe not for life.
Do self cath every day? what are your residuals? Are they still pretty high? You may need no sling at this point. I mean cutting the sling may help you bladder empty. I know how it feels. Let me know if I can help Sue
