Empty feeling???

OK, I know this sounds silly, but I've been wondering about something that only my post-op sisters can answer. After having everything removed (uterus, ovaries, tubes, cervix, and all those wonder fibroids and giant cysts) do you feel any different inside? Like a "lighter" feeling? I know these organs and growths take up some space and have some weight and I would think you could tell the difference when they were removed. True???

Empty feeling???

Well, I only had my uterus removed, but I don't feel any different inside. Actually, when I have my swelly belly at the end of each day, I feel as if there is more to me now than there ever was!

The body has an amazing tendency to heal itself and I think that things just sort of re-position themselves inside and you will feel no difference in your body.

Yours is a good question, as I often thought that I should feel like there is a big empty space inside of me, so it's not silly to think that way!

re: empty feeling

Dear Judi V,
First of all, I don't think any question is silly! I love this site because I know I can ask about anything! I think it's true that all the other organs take up the space. I still have a swollen belly, too, (5 weeks post-ob) so I feel like my abdomen is bigger!
I had "everything" removed, too, but what surprised me was how small all those organs actually are. I've been told that the normal size of a uterus is the size of a walnut, weighing between 50-70 grams. My uterus was very large when it was removed (due to excessive lining growth) and weighed 315 grams- that's still very small in my mind. All the other parts are even smaller.
I also think I still have lots of nasty gas moving around in there and swelling me up- I hope that passes (ha ha) soon! Best wishes on your recovery! Lynn

Very light!

Yes, I feel much lighter!!! Very light, in fact. It feels GREAT after schlepping all that JUNK around for years!!!

I also feel lighter emotionally...it's over, I'm fine...YAY!

I got my path report, and boy, I AM lighter...the uterus weighted around 500 grams and the massive broid was almost 700. I lost around 8 lbs.

It's a good feeling, don't you think?

NOT SILLY????S

YUP! I feel lighter. 454gms =1lb. I had 1 fibroid that weighed in at 2400gms.At three+ weeks post-op. When I am standing there is a hollow in my upper RT abdomen where it was. I had everything removed, but the playpen. My belly is such an ugly looking thing now, it almost makes me sick. The PLUS is less pain, no medication, better posture, smaller clothing, better mental out look, just to name a few. The minus is SAGGY-BAGGIE BELLY, UGLY SCAR, SLIGHT WITCHY FEELING. Think time will help the minuses.
Best wishes for a happier, healthier you
