A little confused about "Mini Periods"

I am kind of confused with all the different post op ideas of periods or no periods....Now you need a uterus to have a period( cuz that sheds monthly to have u have one) now if u have it removed, u can not shed anything so which means no bleeding....Right? My doctor said that i wont have one ( cuz of my uterus being removed) So how is it people say they have one, Or mini....U should not have one at all! I am almost 5 wks post op( wed 2/1) and that is about the only thing baffling me to this day and probably always will....Hope everyone is having a good day.... to all...

A little confused about "Mini Periods"

I am sorry for your confusion. Some ladies who keep their cervix report possible mini-periods (from the uterine lining still attached to the cervix) even if the surgeon cauterized the lining during surgery, if they also keep one or both ovaries. You may also wish to use the search tap at the top, right to search for more information about "mini periods."

A little confused about "Mini Periods"

Hi A.pitlover05,

If a Hyster Sister keeps the cervix ~and~ one or both ovaries, there is a chance of a mini-period in post op. From what I understand, the cervix is the neck of the uterus.

During monthly ovulation in post-op, if there is endometrial tissue left on the cervix after a hyst, there is a chance of a mini-period. Some ladies have it and some do not. Many ladies post that it only requires a panty liner at that time of the month.

Your Dr. might have cauterized your cervix during your LSH to prevent a mini-period. I had my cervix cauterized during my LSH and I have not had a mini-period in post-op.

Hope that helps. Best wishes,

Mary
