Finally feeling human again

Well after 2 weeks I finally feel human. This has been a hard 2 weeks. The bleeding has subsided but still there. I still have the exruciating gas pains in my lower abdomen and now have a bad back ache. Ive been taking Tylenol PM everynight and sleep pretty well. I only take one pill though.

Originally I was suppoe to have Uterine Fibroid Embolization in June. The radiologist did an MRI to make sure I didnt have any pendunculated ones. Well 5 days prior to the scheduled procedure they call me to the office. They set up blood tests and have me sign papers to go into the hospital. I never felt comfortable about this dr and sitting there waiting for him I'd hoped he wouldnt do the procedure. He comes in 30 minutes later and tells me he was trying to find my MRI chart so he could show me that I was not a candidate for the procedure. He told me I had two pendunculated fibroids. I was devasted because I knew my only option was either a myomectomy or hysterectomy.

To make a long story shorter after the hysterectomy my ob/gyn told me I didnt even have any pendunculated fibroids . I had so many though that she stopped counting. Right now I wish this recovery would've have been so hard and last week I wished I never had the surgery. Im glad to be feeling somewhat normal now and am tired of sitting around the house...not getting paid for any of this time of.

oh to be a woman

I'm happy to hear that you are doing better. Having surgery can be so traumatic. Just take it one day at a time.

I'm so sorry. We all know how traumatic this whole thing can be and it doesn't help to learn that your dr didn't have the facts straight. I hope you can lay it to rest and look forward now.
Have you tried some heat on your back? It helped me a lot. I hope this week is better. You are early still, so please find a good book or some good movies and be resting. It helps so much if you can look at this as a time set aside for you. It won't last forever and in the meantime....we are always here

I wish you the best. I know these are hard days for you but at least with this site we can see women that are in all in the same boat , just at different parts of the journey. It has been a month for me and I can honestly say with each week that passes , things seem to be getting better. Hugs- Cath

Finally feeling human again

As I have posted before, its three weeks for me tomorrow. I can honestly say today is the best day Ive had so far. I drove to the store, it felt a little weird being out on my own, but I felt like myself again. Take care of yourself, every day gets better. Just dont rush your recovery..take it easy!

Thanks guys . Very nice to see all the kind replies...it sure helps with the self esteem. I've been trying to take it easy and do a little more each day. Today for some reason tho I feel a little more tired and my tummy is hurting. Its still hard to have a BM . If I could just get rid of these gas pains!! They are the worst!

I do have a question. Has anyone been more sensitive to tastes and smells since surgery? I seem to be bothered my certain smells like garlic....cant stand it!
