shortysnook,

I am so sorry to hear you are struggling here! You are most certainly not alone! And by the way, to Hystersisters! I am pretty sure one of the hostesses will be along to move your post to the Post Op forum where you will get many more responses.
Did you have your ovaries removed? Even if not, this surgery can be overwhelming! Your emotions are all over the place, partly because you still have some anesthesia in your body that will work itself out over the next month, and all the pain meds are are or were on will have an effect on your psych. Also, your hormones are adjusting to the loss of your uterus and whatever else you had removed. Then there is the reality that you lost some organs in there, so your monthly cycle has been disrupted. I promise you it will get better!
I know for me personally the first week or two was very hard, and then things leveled out until my fifth week, when my surgical menopausal symptoms really hit, even with hrt. It took that long for the hormones still stored in my body to leave. Some women however experience surgical menopause instantly. Do you have any hotflashes, headaches, anxiety, other types of symptoms? Is there a reason why you werent started on hrt right away? Did you have endometriosis or a cancer diagnosis? I would love to hear more from you on why you had your surgery and what your doctor said about hrt. Maybe we could help you figure things out better. These women here are very supportive and have helped me enormously over the last 5 1/2 months since my surgery. I am still struggling with hormonal balance, but with hrt at least my moods are more stable. I hope you stick around and keep us posted on your progress. Hang in there!

Hi there,

I had my TAH/BSO on 1/30, and my dr. put me on the estradiol patch that very day, even though she also found endometriosis when she did my surgery (she added Promethrium to balance the estrogen). I, too, wonder why your dr. wouldn't have immediately placed you on hrt? You need to ask - naturebound is correct, that the symptoms can hit you immediately after surgery.

Good luck, and we are pulling for ya!

I didn;t have my ovaries removed and I cried every day for the first week - for NO reason - or stupid things......

You not crazy! You are just a wonderful human being - emotions and all! Your body just doesn't like being cut into and having parts removed and messed with.

Hang in thier - the sisters will help you through it!!!
