Fifth surgery (pregnancy and childbirth mentioned)
This will be my FIFTH abdominal surgery. I am tired of this...
The pains on the right started after Conor (my second child) was born, and they did an exploratory via laparoscope (OK, I did a spell check on this, and laparoscopy came up as misspelled, and the correct word it gave me???? LEPROSY!!!!!!bahahhahah) but didn't find anything - later we found out it was because the cysts were bursting inside my ovary. And there apparently wasn't any there when he did the surgery.
Then Cassidy was an emergency c section. My water broke at 32 weeks. Ugh. Baby was fine though, but I was warned not to have more. (I'm told the recovery to a hysterectomy is very similar, and I remember that all too well)
Then my tubal was done by laparoscope (I had this done after they told me I'd die if I had more kids, and most likely, so would baby - gee, easy decision there.)
Then my right ovary was removed in 2004 via laparoscope due to a 5cm very painful cyst inside of it.
Now, due to the size of the mass in the left, 6.5 cm and fears of it bursting, I will have a TAH (total abdominal hysterectomy.) My uterus is also slightly prolapsed, and without ovaries, it's sorta pointless anyway. He is just taking htat to prevent another surgery later. I wonder if they will take my appendix and gall bladder now too, just in case? LOL
I asked him to put in a zipper just in case there is anything else he wants, and to please somehow carve his initials into my abdomen to at least take credit for the multitide of scars he has left there.....
Of course I have been thinking a lot about all of this. I am feeling pretty okay about it. Rick is pretty sure he can take off the whole week I am in the hospital as well as the week after. That's WAY better than when I had my c-section. He had to go back to work as soon as I got home, plus then, Hunter was only 4 and Conor had just turned 3. They weren't exactly cooking, vaccuming and doing laundry, much less putting the dog outside. It was awful, so this time around should be a lot easier.
I am off to go shopping to find some stretchy lazy fat chick pants. I guess I won't be squeezing into my Zani Di's for awhile. I ordered a Chillow too - I guess I'd best be prepared, eh? LOL!
Thanks for being there you guys, and letting me vent and just put my thoughts down.....

Wow, sorry you have to go through all that again. You have a great sense of humor which I'm sure will help you thru it. LMAO at the zipper, I'm gonna ask that too. hahaha

Your history is one of my fears!!! I was releived when the surgeon told me last week that she wouldn't be doing her job well if she left an ovary that was only going to make my endo come back, and that 3 bouts of cervical displasia was enough reason to remove the cervix also. She looked at me very intensely for a minute, waiting for a reaction I think. I just nodded my head and told her I appreciated her being so straight forward, and that I did not want to come back for more surgery ever. I've had 1 vag. birth, 1 c=sect, endo removal, displasia frozen off, and 4 miscarriages. At 36 I'm ready to be done with the 6 visits a year to the gyn. (or more)
Its amazing you can keep a sense of humor about it all, but what else can you do? I'm sending prayers your way that this will be it, and you can live the rest of your life pain free.
Hugs to you,
Donna

Wow! Sorry you've had to go through so much, but it sounds like you've got a GREAT attitude! Loved the zipper idea! After everything I've read, I'm beginning to think we ladies should be born with a zipper!
If you've survived everything this far, I'm sure you'll do just fine this time around! Let's just hope this is the last adventure for you!
Hugs!
