Ab toning before surgery?

My daughter has an exercise machine, sort of like a little rocking chair to strengthen and tone abdominal muscles. It occured to me last night, with almost 8 weeks to go before surgery, that if I use this thing and strengthen and tone my ab muscles, maybe it would help with pain, and recovery. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did it work? It just made sense to me that toned up ab's would take the surgery a little better, and perhaps help with healing and recovery.

Ab toning before surgery?

I didn't use one of those devices but I did do sit-ups and I agree, I think it helps. You surely won't be able to do any after the surgery for a while. Make sure you clear it with your doctor first though! Best of luck!

Ab toning before surgery?

My dr. said it would help to do situps and tone the ab muscles before surgery. It helps you to bounce back a little better if the muscles are toned and not weak. Will it make a big difference? No, it will still hurt. Needless to say, I'm doing 150 situps 3 times a week in preparation for my surgery in early June. And I will post after the surgery to let everyone know if it made any difference. Anything to help the ladies in waiting.....

Ab toning before surgery?

My tax lady said she knew several months in advance of her surgery and she did tummy/ab exercises etc. She was in great condition and her doctor told her she was and she went to Austrailia on vacation 6 weeks later! She did say she didn't lift anything just pulled it but she felt wonderful. I don't know about recommending international travel (!) but exercising can't hurt and will probably make things bettrer!
Good Luck!
