Dry skin...face feels like it's falling off slowly...rahhhh

Just wondering if anyone else out there has had severe dry face from surgical menopause. I am on premarin 1.25mg and have always taken care of my skin well.

My goodness it is worse than dandruff on a black shirt.RAHH

So any tips from any other sisters out there would be great help.

I do moisturize throughout the day as well as evenings and right after my shower.

I find that taking fish oil capsules helps skin and hair, plus multivitamin, calcium plus D, and vitamin C.

Don't forget to dry a whole lot of water .

I hope this helps.

I too have been dealing with dryness. I've developed dry scales on my eye-lids. Ug! I am getting some relief by switching all my lotions and foundations to a moisture rich formula for very dry skin. I think this has really helped for me. I've added flax seed to my diet, but don't always remember to take it daily.

I am working with my doc to add testosterone and I am hoping I see some relief there with skin tone. I may also need better adjustment with my estrogen.

Days where I remember to drink lots of liquid definately result in less dry skin.

Hope you find balance. Then let us know how you did it.

All the best,

Hi! I have terrible dry facial skin, my eye's started prior to the surgery and had gotten worse. I have a terrible time with taking fish oil as I tried that last June and felt like I had just eaten a tuna fish sandwich all day long--yuck! And I LOVE tuna!

My doctor told me it's normal with hormone imbalances. I have found some relief by going back to cleaning my face with Noxema, adding a bit to my eyelids after cleansing and I've started using Berts Bees eyeshadow as it has vit E and beeswax. It itched so badly I thought I'd go nuts, and now it' s finally looking better.

I have also switched from Climara .05 to Premarin .625 so it might get better too, I just switched on Friday so it's to soon to tell.

I use a capsule of Vitamin E on my face every evening, rather than taken orally which seems to cause some gastric upset, used after I have cleansed, makes my skin feel like it's had a good drink . I have also tried Aloe vera which made my skin feel nourished as well.

I have to be very careful with what I put on my face. I use Cetaphil as a cleanser and I have two different Cetaphil moisturizers. One is for the body, too (and I find that it is a great winter moisturizer for my face) and I have a one specifically for the face that contains sunscreen.

I also use a tinted moisturizer OVER my facial moisturizer in the winter. It is made by Estee Lauder and is called Daywear Plus. It also has a sunscreen and lots of antioxidants. I buy it when there is a gift with purchase because it is expensive. I also heard there is one in the drugstore now...vaguely heard about it while watching Today yesterday.

I tried Eucerin facial moisturizer once and it feels like the zinc oxide in it really appears. I don't like it very much but I'll use it under some waterproof makeup when I swim in the summer because it definitely protects my face from the sun.

Hope this helps.
