Pulling sensation when urinating or BM

I'm only 5 days post op. When I pee or have BM, I have a "pulling" sensation or a tugging sensation. It's hard to descrbe. It's uncomfortable but not painful. Considering my TAH/BSO, I'm thinking (I have it on my list to ask Dr. Friday) that I have either a bladder tack or bladder sling and this would explain pulling while urinating. I figure the pulling/kind of hurting with BM would be simply because I've had my guts messed around with recently. Do I sound like I'm on the right track?? Appreciate the input. Thanks.

Not sure about the bladder tack or sling. Did he say you were having one of those? Anyway, the discomfort is all normal. It does get better. You are still early in recovery. So, remember to rest often !
Take care,

Pulling sensation when urinating or BM

Hi! I'm about 12 weeks or so post op and still have that feeling about 50% of the time and worst when emptying a really full bladder like first thing in the a.m. My understanding is that it is normal and will eventually go away. The sooner the better too! It's annoying! Take care!

Hi KaiRobin and BULLEAH

You are both very early in your recoveries and it's normal for your organs to feel sore, achy and pulling. During surgery, things are moved and prodded and it can take a while for everything to settle again. I had discomfort for about 6 weeks post-op with bm's and emptying my bladder. Keep up your pain meds for comfort and don't let your bladder get overfull. If the pain can't be managed with OTC meds and heat or ice, please contact your doctor.

Best wishes and

I also have the same feeling. I bought the sweely belly band and I have to say it sure does help especially when going to the bathroom. I love it ice cold to numb the area.

I have been having this problem for sometime now, DR scheduled Feb 17th for scope, said possible adheasions. I guess the intestine is right across the top of the cuff and DR thinks they are stuck together. One thing after another!
