Shoulder Pain
I had a LSH on 1/17/06. The surgery itself went fine, and I really have no pain from any of the incisions. The problem I'm having is shoulder pain. It started about a week after I got home. At first I thought it was the air that they talk about, but now it has been almost 4 weeks and the pain if just getting worse. Now it is just a constant pain. It almost feels like I have a pinched nerve. I went to my doctor and she didn't think it was related to the surgery; however I never had this before. I took Phasyme for a day or so, but it didn't seem to do anything. Has anyone else had this type of pain for this length of time?

Shoulder Pain
I had exactly what you describe - that sort of went away, but now my hip joints and knees are killing me! I am guessing because of no estrogen. (???)

Shoulder Pain
Dear Spotty,
I know the pain you are talking about and mine was related to low estrogen. It was very painful and constant. Ibuprofen did little to give me any relief.
I had a massage and increased my estrogen a tad because my Dr. thought it was related to low estrogen.
This pain did not occur until Jan. and my surgery was in Sept.
Have not had any further pain anywhere since my estrogen was increased.
Hope you feel better soon.

Shoulder Pain
I woke up in January one day about 7 weeks post op with extreme pain in my right shoulder and neck. I treated with 'Deep Heat' rub and it got a bit better, but eventually the GP referred me to a physiotherapist. He said I'd done something to the vertebrae (sp?) and i have been back a few times since for massage and heat treatment. It is not getting that much better so I have read your posts with interest. The physio said it's not uncommon after surgery because of the position of your neck during the surgery, and also because of not using tummy muscles after a hyst.
I guess two conclusions
-spottythecat you should get another opinion
- I maybe should get another opinion if these physio appts don't start to work soon
let's hope we both get sorted out soon!

Shoulder Pain
I had a LSH two days ago. When I arrived home yesterday, I had an intense pain in my right shoulder that shot up my neck. It was almost paralysizing. It hasn't completely gone away. I hope this ache doesn't last because it almost hurts worse than my insisions.

Shoulder Pain
In November I was scheduled for a hysteroscopy. I was given a pamplet on possible side effects in the mail and shoulder pain was one of the side effects. They were unable to do the test because my cervix was blocked by the fibroid that I had. I don't know if that will help you or not but it sounds like it is considered a normal pain for any kind of scope going in that area. I am not a Dr. so I am definitely just giving my opinion which could be totally out in left field. Hope all of you get to feeling better soon, lots of massages and candlelight dinners seem in order here. hugs- Cath

Shoulder Pain
This pain will be from the gas they put inside for the lap procedure. It will go quite quickly. If it doesn't then ring and get it checked.
Update on my bad neck & shoulder- it is from surgery, probably from the position I was in. It is improving, not static as I feared. The physio suggested returning to the gym for light cardio work and starting to work out arms and upper body a bit. It won't hurt my neck/shoulder as I'd feared but will help.
Good luck everyone else. Keep us posted.
