Question - Lots of pain with ovarys Lots of pain with ovarys

Hi, I'm new to this site. I found it when I went looking for information about cysts. I've been having pain for only a short while, but boy is it really making life difficult. Went to the er a week ago and found out I have a 5cm complex cyst on my right ovary. I'm not really sure what to think at this point. I have an appt with a gyno next week. Wanted some adivse. The only thing that really seems to help with the pain is just lying flat and still. Can't do that all the time, and don't want to. Any advise about how to help out with the pain? Am taking ibuprofen right now. Doesn't really help much.

Thanks. This site is great.

Lots of pain with ovarys

The ER doc didn't give you a script for pain med's? I would call your gyn's office and ask for them to call one in. Explain your pain and that your appt isn't till next week. If they want to see you first, ask for your appt to be moved up or call in just a few pills to get you by until your appt. There's no reason you should be suffering like you are.

Thanks

The er doc did give me pain meds. Doesn't help much when I have to be very active. I'm going away for vacation next week, so when I see the gyno I will be asking for something strong to help me get through the night.

Lots of pain with ovarys

I have found that amy pain I have from my complex cysts goes away and sort of comes and goes w/o any warning. Right now I have no pain and that I think is what makes planning for and having surgery very difficult to get my head around..why have something removed that Is NOT bothering you? OK so they have been watching the cysts since last april and they never have totally resolved but surgery seems very deastic to me and its impending date looms ever closer.....I scared poopless!!

Hang in there

Maven, sorry to hear about your pain. Has it been explained why the pain comes and goes? That is what I'm trying to figure out. Have they given you anything to help shrink the cyst? This is my first time around with a cyst. So I have very little information except what I have read with this site. Good luck with everything.

Lots of pain with ovarys

I hate taking pain meds so I don't except tylenol..I think a few of teh cysts have rutured and those are extremely painful. They also think my ovary is flipping about sort of torsdion, if it flips back teh pain stops if not it means emergency surgery so I'm having it out.
They have been watching it for about 9-10 months alreready and sometimes it seems larger than shrinks a little and I havemore fluid floating about. Now I either have one Gigantic cyst ( mass ) complex or 4 smaller complex ones .Last year I only had one complex one and 1-2 simple ones.Perhaps they all joined hands and formed a huge one? No one knows and we;ll need to wait till it comes out! Good luck waiting and waiting. They tried me on BC pills but my hypertenion went wild and I can not tolerate them ( besides they did not help )
