Honestly... it's been almost 5 weeks and I have really thought I lost my mind. There are a lot of things I didn't know to expect... a lot of things that I find from reading here, are normal. I thought I was being a wuss... but I realize that so many others are not fully healed at 5 weeks either. I'm so amazed at this place. I really think that doctors should have patients who are going to have a hysterectomy for any reason... go to a support group with others who have already been through it... so they know what to expect.

This is one of the best threads i've ever started! Anyone from Texas currently living in another state or country? My parents and one of my mom's closest friends are "ex-patriats" from the Texas Panhandle--all transplanted here from Borger through what was then plain 'ol Phillips 66.

I'm sorry you are so upset and hope this website will help. I agree that the doctors don't provide adequate info. to prepare patients for pre-surgery and post. I have no idea what to expect other than info. from this site. Everyone just say that "you will feel so much better" well I don't feel pain or any other problems now. Please take care of yourself. Fearful in Corpus Christi.....

Hey real quick... do you have your surgery on Wednesday... if you do (I think I'm reading the dates right??)... I just wanted to tell you to hang in there. I was so scared... and mine happened really fast. I didn't have time to think about everything before hand. I don't know if that was good or bad. lol I go for my 5 week check up on Wednesday... so I'll be thinking about you and sending you good vibes!

Actually with as little time as I had till my surgery... I did the same thing. I bought groceries to last weeks... I cleaned house... I wrote letters to my husband and children... I left instructions about what my grandbaby likes (I have a one year old grandbaby that I keep while her mom works who had to be passed around to different family members and I was SURE no one could take care of her better than me...lol). I think we get busy before the surgery... to keep our mind off the surgery. And that's okay...
Just remember to take it easy... and do something nice for yourself (buy a new nightgown or have that chocolate you were craving... be nice to YOU).

I pray that all goes well with your surgery. The waiting is worse than the recovery I think. At least it was for me.

I live in Midlothian, Texas. It sits pretty much between Dallas and Fort Worth. It used to be a nice little country town. But in the last five years it has been growing constantly. I live about six miles out in the country, but even here it's starting to get crowded.

I'm at three weeks today and I think I'm doing pretty well. I feel good, too good. I keep having to make myself slow down. I really overdid it Saturday and I'm just now recovering.

Best wishes to all you Texas gals. Take care.
