You have to laugh.....

I only joined yesterday, after being upset by the doctor... yet again!!

But typical of my mood swings (lack of any bodily hormones).. need I say more? today I'm able to look at the funny side of things, like....

Being told my smear test was negative, 6 months after having my cervix removed; never realising that it may one day be in a position to send a postcard...

A female doctor with a serious upper lip hair problem (ahem, a veritable moustache) telling me that testosterone can encourage facial hair growth...

A female relative saying 'we never had HRT in our day, we just got on with it'; and thinking 'oh, just go back to digging a ditch!!'....

Housework that used to take an hour or two, now taking all day... with a nap in the middle, and enough perspiration to irrigate a small village....

Forgetting things, and wondering if you'll end up wearing one of those name badges attached to your coat with a safety pin....

Wondering why the weight goes on while eating like a sparrow, then getting so fed up that I have to eat chocolate to get over it.....

Where you used to look in the mirror and think 'not too bad', now it's 'oh my god!!'.....

The plus side (one of the few) is finally realising that I can speak my mind, after all it isn't as if you have to worry about fitting in at school any more... watch out, don't mess with me, I'm menopausal!!!

You have to laugh.....

Hello all.........Just glad to raise a smile

Well, when you're sitting here at 4am because you can't sleep because of night sweats you have to find something funny

Which leads you to wonder exactly how much water a body can lose before you look like Mr. Burns (Simpsons)

So, will tell more later..... bye for now

You have to laugh.....

that was great! to bad we don't have a section for the funny side of menapause--it would be great to somehow find something funny in it everyday that relates to what we all are going threw--like having a hotflash while bieng a cashier, face goes into full flush and male customer thinks he's got ya blushing--meanwhile in your head your thinkin ugg when is this gonna pass, I wish I could stand in a fridge and if this guy doesn't move soon I will hit him. All the while smiling sweatily and telling him to have a nice day.

You have to laugh.....

It’s great to see that there are things to laugh at and that we still can…..

I love the story from justmisty, isn’t it funny how that ‘salesman’ charm doesn’t work any more; where we used to be flattered and giggle girlishly we now just think ‘oh go away’ (meaning no offence to my long suffering DH)

Some other pluses and minuses……..

Trying to do the exercise thing….but like the housework taking longer to recover than actually do it, or the most exercise you get is leaping out of bed to ‘dance away’ a cramp

Getting funny looks because you go shopping midwinter in a t-shirt and jacket… and complain you’re too hot

Discovering that the most exciting thing in life seems to be the latest 3 for 2 offer at the supermarket

Films - opting for Westerns instead of Weepies

And women who say ‘you’re so lucky, I wish I didn’t have periods any more’ and you’re thinking they’re just being smug because they have ovaries

So, come on.. join in… while I try to think of some more!!

You have to laugh.....

I've got a good one, abit embarrasing but a good one. Seems I now have a fluffle problem (I refuse to go to my husbands level and say I fart) As far as I can tell its either from surgery or hormones--I'm 39 though not a baby anymore I still pray not old enough for this to be a 'normal' age thing. Well I have twin boys with ADHD, while trying to disipline one of my 'angels' (cough cough) I was in strict mommy mode, lecturing on the seriousness of his wrong doing when low and behold a fluffle escapes with noise to wake the dead! Now how do you look like a mom worth taking serously when you have just made a noise that 8yr old boys seem to think is something to be proud of and something that makes them laugh hysterically about? To make matters worse my dh was standing there waiting his turn to say his words of wisdom and drive home the seriouse ness of my childs wrong doing. He ended up laughing so hard he was crying. Now I am known as 'one of the guys' which is not the way I would want to get into that grouping if I wanted to!
