Cervix Question

I had my pre-op the other day and ask my doctor if he would cauterize the cervix so I don't get mini-periods. He said he doesn't do that. What he does is remove the lining inside the cervix. Has anyone had this done and if so do you have any side affects or discharge?
Thanks. M.

Cervix Question

Hi M. I had an SAH three weeks ago and my Dr. did not cauterize my cervix either. She said she did the same thing that your Dr. is going to do to your cervix. I have been having discharge while I have been recovering. I would have been due for aunt Flo about now, but I haven't really had anything that resembles a period. It is mostly dark discharge (sorry for TMI) that I have been having since a few days after the surgery. A panty liner is the most that is required. My Dr. said I wouldn't have to worry about getting mini periods, but I know that there is a chance that I might get them. I understand that they are really light and nothing close to what I went through before. I can live with that. I didn't want my healthy cervix removed. Good luck with your surgery. I will be thinking of you.

I hope you are healing well and I'm glad to hear the procedure is something other Dr's do. I'm not sure of the reason. I don't want my cervix removed either. I think the dark discharge is normal for a few weeks. Were you able to keep your ovaries? I'm hoping to keep mine if they are ok but I have a bad feeling about the left side. Lots of pain lately. Take care of yourself and thank you!

Cervix Question

If you haven't already, be sure to read the other thread going on right now- To Cervix or Not to Cervix, that is the question.
