All of the sudden my patch won't stay on !

I have been using the Climara patch for HRT. I have had no problems before with getting it to stay on. I usually put it on my butt cheek. I alternate weekly. For the past three weeks it only stays on for about 4 days then starts to fall off. So, I take a new one and replace it. I can't figure out why now it won't stay on. If anyone has any advice on what to do or what I may be doing wrong please let me know. I seem to be going through them quickly. Thanks for and advice.

Take care all !!

All of the sudden my patch won't stay on !

I had the same problem with Climara. The last time I used one it fell off as soon as I put it on. I used an alcohol wipe and dried my skin and it still peeled right off. My pharamicst said he had been having a lot of complaints about the Climara not sticking. He gave me the number of the company who makes them (Berlex) and I left several voicemails and they were never answered and I didn't feel it was my responsibility to spend more money for a replacement. I don't like giving money to a company that doesn't response to it's customers. I am now on compounded troches.

Barbara,
If you've not had any problems previously, it's possible that you got a bad batch of patches. Perhaps you could call your pharmacy and speak with them.

Here's a thread with some tips for keeping the patch stuck Patches: Adhesion

I used the Climara patch for a few months post op and didn't have much success with keeping it stuck. If the tips don't work and the problem continues, even after starting a new box, you may want to ask your doctor about using a different patch. I've heard good things about the Vivelle Dot. The Dot seems to have a much better adhesion success rate.

I am on Climara, too. I have no problems with the patch sticking for the week--IF I don't play with it! If I try to remove that icky black ring on the outside edge of the patch, that is just asking for trouble. When I put it on, I absolutely cannot touch the thing for the entire week, no matter what. I exercise strenuously, sometimes showering twice a day, and as long as I leave it alone I have no problems.

I'm on the Climara patch too and have resorted to putting two waterproof bandages over it at around the the third day to ensure it stays on for the whole seven days.
