help needed: hormones or not hormones?
hello, I promise I will keep this as short as I can, I have never ventured into the hormone jungle, hoping you all can help, I had surgery mid jan 2001, kept both ovaries, prior to surgery already had thyroid problems, currently on synthroid, have been for almost two years, already had thyroid levels checked, all is fine, my problems are itchy skin, weight gain especially in my breast, I assume hot flashes, very very evil moments, I'm always upset, I don't know who I'm upset with, seems like I had the perfect gyn doctor before the surgery, now all I get out of him is that it takes time, things will get back to normal, I weigh more now than I did before the surgery, I sleep a lot, actually that is about all I do, I started back working out at the gym, doesn't seem to be doing a bit of good, weight is still increasing, my breasts are sore a lot, I have constant bladder spasms, my doctor makes me feel like this is all in my head, my biggest concern is that I'm getting ready for a big move the middle of may, I can't imagine my drive from texas into florida with my lovely kids, 10-12, my husband is military away right now, won't be making the drive with us. I am 33 and feel really isolated right now, I don't enjoy really being around anyone as much as I did before, I push myself when I'm around my kids. Any help would be greatly appreciated, sorry this is so long.

help needed: hormones or not hormones?
This is tough with the move right here--but this is hormonal. Estrogen sounds high in relation to progesterone, though both may be dropping because norepinephrine is boosted by estrogen and that's a short-temper neurotransmitter.
Something I would try because of the short notice is over the counter progesterone cream. Estrogen "over-caffeinates" and progesterone soothes. But most of all the ratio of the two in balance helps with a lot of these things.
The best thing would be to get to a doctor who is willing to work with you, but that might take a search in the new place.
Black cohosh (herb) might also help some. There's more info on both these things at www.hormonejungle.com
