Appendix???

Hello,

Question, is it rare or common for some one that had a TAH (everything removed) to have to go back in to have their appendix removed??

Thanks

Appendix???

I don't know that there is a connection; however, the nurse in my doctor's office was surprised that they hadn't taken my appendix when they had me open. It will be just my luck to have an appendicitis shortly after the TAH. Oh well...I wish you well.

Appendix???

I just happened to get mine in different order. The appendix surgery was first. A friend of mine had her appendix removed at the same time as TAH. Kind of which came first..chicken or egg. Whatever goes on in there seems to affect the appendix. Hopefully you will not have to have that surgery done.

Appendix???

yes, my surgeon requested i had my appendix removed at the time of my hys for the reason of a ruptured appendix after surgery or should i say appendicitis, which i hear is extremely painful.

Appendix???

I had my right ovary removed over a year ago. They took my appendix at the same time. Never had any trouble with it so I thought it was a little weird. Doc reassured me that it's quite common. That way they won't have to go in later if problems arise with it.

Appendix???

I was at the hospital a year ago with a good friend when she had acute appendicitis- trust me, it's not pretty. She just kind of felt like she had an upset stomach off and on for a week, and then it got really intense, and she started vomitting. Don't think she had much of a fever. My doc told me appendicitis usually doesn't go to the right side until it's really acute- it usually starts in the middle. I know my friend was in too much pain to even know where it hurt anymore.

Nerves in the abdomen are funny- can't always tell what it is by where it hurts. But, when in doubt, better to check with your doc!

Appendix???

My appendix was first although the reason I went to the Dr was because of extreme period/cramping/nausea that started in mid-section. Period stopped...pain got worse even up to my breasts. Dr's office at 10:00 am...surgery at 2:00 pm. Pain was all over because of location of appendix...not where it should have been. 3 days in hospital and 4 weeks off from work. This was June 30, 2005....7 months later...Jan 30, 2006 I had TAH/BSO..4 days in hospital and 6 weeks off work. Not a good pattern for work.
