leg swelling

I had a laparoscopic BSO done nearly 3 weeks ago. The swelling began to subside about 7 days ago. Now for the past 2 days I've had horrible swelling in my abdomen and my legs are huge by nighttime. They are so swollen that they hurt the next day. I see my MD for my postop visit on thursday but wondered if anyone else had this kind of reaction. I'm so swollen that my eyelids are swollen....

Hi Maciemae,

I am glad you have an appointment with your Dr.

Are you drinking enough water? If I am swelling, I find that drinking 3 quarts of water a day can help. Have you recently begun any new medications?

Let us know what your Dr says.

I drink a ton of water so I don't know what the deal is. I guess I'll get the "expert" opinion tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

You might be allergic to a medication, be careful! The facial swelling is an indicator. Do call the doctor. I had a similiar reaction to an IV antibiotic after my D&C.

Hope its nothing, though!

Thanks for the advice. I saw my physician today and he said, Hmmm... that's what I got! i feel like garbage and I need answers. I think he's a great doctor but right now I'm frustrated. I wish it would end but I can't make the swelling stop. My husband is also a doctor and called him earlier. We'll see what they come up with. I hate having him do that but I can't stop him from trying to help. Sorry, enough complaining...

Hang in there Maciemae, and don't worry about having your hubby help. I hope they have some answers for you soon!

Feel better and take it really easy,

I spoke with the nurse and doctor this afternoon and they feel that it's my estrogen levels. They think it's from too low of levels. WE'll give it a try. Thanks!

hmmmm..I have same issues. Not sure why my legs are puffy from the knee to the ankle. I am trying hard to drink a lot. Thinking maybe I should check hormones if all else seems ok.
