A friend of mine told me that her doctor said it was not safe to take Advil (ibupropen) close to surgery. I haven't been warned about this and am worried because I have been taking Advil like candies to help with the pain. If you know more about this, please let me know, I'm only 13 days before going to the castle! Thanks for the advise. Frenchie
Generally ,during your pre-op blood work they`ll check how fast your blood will clot........my Dr. told me NO ibuprofen and several other things I was on (herbal remedies) because of their ability to make you bleed easier........DEFINATELY check with yours about his preference......... `S hoping things go well for u at the castle
I think that I wasn't allowed to take ibuprofen or aspirin for 1-2 weeks prior to surgery. This is pretty standard. They don't want your blood to be to thin. I think that tylenol is OK. You should double check with your Dr. You don't want to be all prepped for surgery and then have them go through all the questions, just to cancel because you were taking ibuprofen.
Hi, I have been told to stop all aspirin, ibuprofen, and aleve products 2 weeks before surgery. As well as all herbal supplements and vitamins. I can still take tylenol though. My doctor said 2 weeks prior and the hospital said 1 week, so if you stop now you should still be fine! Of course, your doctor knows your situation best.
Thank you ladies for your fast replies! I am so glad I found out about this. Can you imagine to have your surgery cancelled because of taking Advil! Not sure what to take for pain until then? I should call my doc right now. Frenchie
at the dr today, he told me that I could take advil up until a week before surgery. Call yours and ask though. I am stopping taking it by 2 weeks before (next week) and they prescribed darvocet instead.
