Upset stomach at 11 days post-op - anyone else?

Well I'm 11 days post op and I am doing pretty well except for major stomach upset. I have no appitite at all and when I do eat it seams to run straight threw me. I figured it might be the pain killers but I stopped taking them a couple of days ago. I only take tynenol for the pain. I lost more blood than normal during surgery so I feel weak enough as is without running to the bathroom every little bit. I tried taking something but it hasn't slowed down. Anyone else having stomach troubles?

Hi Mossylynn, I had the same problem after my TVH. My doctor told me to take imodium to get the problem to slow down. It would work for a few days and then start up again. This went on for about 5 weeks. She told me if it didn't stop then I would need to take in a sample for a culture test. The doctor said the antibotics they give you after your surgery can some times kill off the good bacteria in your intestinal track. You probably should talk to your doctor and see what they want you to do. Be sure to be drinking a lot of fluids. Good luck! Jane

Upset stomach at 11 days post-op - anyone else?

Hi Mossylynn, I am 4 days post op from my TVH. I am also having the same problem. I want to have something to eat but like you everything is going right through me. I can only keep apple juice and crackers down. I am only taking tylenol at night and also am not sleeping.

I feel good most of the time, no real pain and feel like I could do things but have been told not too. How long before one feels better?

I'm 6 days post op from my TVH. I feel pretty good, although my stomach is pretty upset. Not sure what I want to eat. I haven't taken any pain pills for a while, although my doctor started me on Bactrim when I left the hospital. I developed a fever while I was there. Maybe it's the Bactrim. I'm still dizzy too. Just don't feel right in the head. My son is home with me and he has the flu, so maybe I'm getting the flu (hope not). Hope you feel better soon..
