8 weeks and now sleepless

Almost 8 weeks post op and the last week I have had trouble sleeping - I get to sleep but wake up after a couple of hours and then can't get back to sleep. I also woke last night because of sharp pains on both sides. I kept my ovaries and only had night sweats for a week after surgery. Could they be failing?

Hi blgrims
It's possible you are having some changes in your hormone levels. It isn't uncommon even when you keep your ovaries. Are there any other signs that this could be hormonal? There are a lot of other symptoms besides hot flashes. Look through the list of symptoms in this article on Too Much Estrogen, Too Little . It might help you recognize other signs of hormone imbalance. The ovaries sometimes do shut down after a hysterctomy, but I think if that happens you will experience a lot of symptoms that won't be able to be ignored.
Because of my age ~ 52, I am in perimenopause. I have my ovaries and they are producing estrogen, its just different every day. I don't know how old you are, but it's something to consider if you're in this category.
The pain can also come when you ovulate. I would call and ask your dr about all of this. Insomnia is common, but miserable. I hope you can find some answers soon. Please let us know if you figure it out.
