Home from the Castle

I just got home yesterday after my surgery on Monday morning and I am doing fine. I was so scared. I was crying off and on during the 90 minute wait for my surgery. When they finally pushed me back to the OR my doctor was there and was explaining everything to me while I was being positioned on the table for surgery-she was wonderful! I remember taking 2 or 3 deep breaths with the mask on my face, thinking this isn't working, and then waking up in the recovery room. I did have some pain when I woke up, but they gave me the morphine pump and that did help pretty quickly. All in all the waiting was much worse than the surgery. I am very sore and tired now, but it feels so good to have the surgery part behind me. Thank you all for your support and good luck to everyone with surgeries coming up.
Hugs to all,
Carolina39

Good Morning Ladies! I just wanted to check in again to say hello and to thank you all for your support. I see that you all have surgeries coming up soon. I just wanted to drop in to encourage you all. I was really scared before my surgery, but the worst part was definitely the waiting. I got home from the hospital on Wednesday and I feel so much better as each day passes. I just want to encourage you all to read prior to your surgeries. I found a great book called "The Essential Guide to Hysterectomy" by Lauren F. Streicher, MD that helped alot with my fears. I know that there are other books available on this site, but unfortunately I didn't have time to order any because my surgery was scheduled so soon. Walking is definitely helping, as I can see the difference everyday in how much I am able to do. Good luck to all with surgeries coming up. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs to all,
Carolina 39

Welcome Home and glad you are feeling better each day. I will have my TAH on 3/29. Each day I try to prepare and get things in order. Did you find yourself doing that or I am just obsessing?

Hi Bonjovilover,
I did the same thing by trying to prepare everyday. I think that it really helped to stay busy. I made sure that I had the house really clean and food in the fridge that would be easy to fix once it was all over. It is definitely making things easier on me now. I hope your surgery goes well and your recovery is speedy. Take care of yourself.
Hugs,
