Still crampy and gasy after eating 5 weeks post LSH

Anyone else have this problem? I still can't eat whatever I want. Nothing spicy or greasy. I can't even do red meat yet. What's wrong with me? Should I see a GI doc or could this still be leftover from the hyst. I get so crampy after eating things that aren't bland that I feel like I may have diarhea. The crampiness lasts hours and I also get bad gas. Help!

I am not as far along in recovery as you (TAH2/27), but I too have problems with cramps, gas and the pain that goes with it. My doc has me taking a stool softner twice a day -- and the more water you can drink the better. I am eating very little red meat as well - but tryiing to up my walking and sitting time a bit every day. I hope it eases for you soon. Good luck!

Tracy-
I'm not as far along as you in my recovery, but I still am watching what I eat as well. I also am not eating large portions either. Yesterday I lived dangerously and had a burrito and had cramps for part of the evening! A heating pad seemed to take care of the problem. I'm a vegetarian, so I don't eat meat anyway. I'm seeing this as an opportunity to start eating better as a lifestyle. More frequent, smaller and balanced meals. I've lost weight even though I've not as active. I too am getting gassy, but I think my system is just settling into the new space it has to operate. I should tell you that I also have IBS, so gastro problems are nothing new for me, although the bowel cramps are new. But they are getting less and less, so I think my system is adjusting. But you aren't alone. Hope you feel better soon!
