My thoughts.
My hyst is the 22nd and I think I'm getting scared. I have had a good week hardly andy pain except when i lay down( kinda bad when you dance for joy over a good week or day) some times i think maybe i don't need this maybe it will go away this is the first week i have thought about it so I'm sure its just because I'm scared about the castle visit but has anyone been in my shoes where everything seems to feel good a couple day before surgery that you have doubts. I now it sounds weird just thought so many of you have good words of wisdom thought you can help

I go to the castle on the 22nd too. I know EXACTLY how you feel! My last period wasn't as bad as usual and suddenly it doesn't seem so bad... then I remember what it's been like for years. I am sure we will be glad once it's over.

Hi, I am also scheduled for the 22nd and today the 19th have no severe pain at all, as if it went away, I think that I have so much more on my mind that Iam ignoring the severity of the pain,I am with you and I know what you are going through, but one day of comfort will not change my mind as I have had many years of pain. Good luck to you.

My thoughts.
Hey Girls! I had my hysterectomy on March 6 after two years of putting it off. I had a large fibroid tumor (5 lbs.) that bled A LOT but caused no pain. Everyone kept telling me "you'll feel sooo much better" but I wasn't feeling bad. It kinda irritated me.
Well, just like you I said to myself "why am I doing this? Why not see if I can hang on a little longer?" Even though I was tired, anemic and pouring blood for two weeks every month!
I dreaded the pain of recovery, feared loss of sexuality, etc! However, I went on with it and must tell you that it has been so much easier than I ever dreamed. I was home after 48 hours and out to lunch five days later. By one week, I could climb stairs with ease and now I almost feel like my old self - with a little soreness on the incision site. I only took pain meds in the hospital except for Advil. I still take Advil for swelling only. As for the sex, like everyone, I will have to wait for 6 weeks for intercourse but tried "outercourse" after one week and was ELATED that I could still reach the big O! (Sorry if that is TMI) Just wanted to ease your fears in that area too.
I can't gaurantee that it will be easy for you but I felt so much dread before that I now know was wasted energy on my part. Good luck and try to relax. You are doing what is the best for your health and there is no reason to believe that you will not have a good recovery and excellent health once you reach the other side!
Sincerely,
Meg

It's a common "phenomenon", to feel better shortly before your surgery, I know I did, and thought "Why am I doing this!"........but it was only time before the pain would return. I do not regret having the surgery one bit!. My back pain is gone, as if by magic!, and I feel better mentally also. Hang in there ladies!.

I'm also like Megn, I had my Hyst, last year on march 16 th. I had put mine off for awhile.. Did the D & C and took drugs to see if it wold help. It helped for maybe one week or two and that was it. i wish I would have never put it off as long as I did.
I know your scared and I think we are all right before we have surgery. My fears was lifted that morning went in. I knew was doing the best thing for myself, and also for my family. They also lived thru all the grief that I was going thru...
Your first couple of weeks will be the hardest on you. For myself after that i did pretty well. I wish you the best during your recovery.

My thoughts.
I had my first "good" month this month in 12...by good I mean I had no mid-cycle bleeding, and the last 2 weeks very little continual pain...just pain immediately after intercourse (not during funnily enough) and after a BM. So I started to doubt was surgery necessary too. These things don't just go away by themselves overnight, and I have been reminded of that this weekend as Aunt Flo came and I have been in continual pain all weekend. I know I need this surgery...things have been going on for years now. I guess if we have a good spell the seed of doubt creeps in as to whether we can avoid invasive surgery, because face it...no one really wants to go through that if they can avoid it. But I think back to why I went to the docs this time round....it cuts into my physical life, my husband's and my relationship, and my emotional well-being.
Just be encouraged your doc took you seriously and is supporting your choice to have surgery...some women don't get that. Soon it will all be over bar the recovery and then you can return your life to a true normal Best wishes for the 22nd
